Re: [eczemapsoriasis] Advice on where to start: Psoriasis

i'm trying this myself for the second or third time. it's hard, but
from all the naturopaths and tcm practitioners that i've seen one
thing keeps popping up as a constant. naturopaths will talk about an
alkaline diet or a candida diet. tcm practitioners will talk about
having too much heat in your body and therefore a cooling diet. all
three are very similar, so that should say something. google alkaline
or candida diets to get the idea. basically, avoid anything you know
to be bad like caffeine, sugar, booze, red meats, smoking, etc. but
it also includes pretty much all gluten, dairy, drugs, spices, and
beans. basically, be prepared to part with a tonne of your favorites.
this ain't easy, but some people have reported amazing results. once
your body has stabilized, apparently you can start re-introducing your
favorites to see what your actual tolerance for them is. myself, i'm
pretty much only eating bananas, figs, dark leafy greens, brown rice,
yogurt, and fish. and that's not even a completely
cooling/alkalizing/candida diet. the most important thing to remember
(and i've stumbled many times because of this) is that good physical
health starts and ends with good mental/emotional health. stress is a
huge factor for our conditions. don't push any diet or regimine to
your own breaking point. denying yourself every luxury in life will
only get you depressed and stressed. that's a vicious cycle!
instead, try to employ a harm reduction model. cut out what you can
live without, reduce your intake of what you can't. and most of all,
be kind and patient and loving with yourself. good luck!
