Re: [echocardiography] Siemens CV 70 echo machine

To Bobbins_26:  Here is the problem list for the CV70.  We are now using Sequoia's and are very happy.
CV70 Problem List
1.)  Poor image quality in TDE patients.  New post processing map makes no significant improvement in image quality.  In several cases we have compaired to older studies done on the same patient and there is no improvement in image quality over our old systems (ATL 3500 and ATL 5000)
2.)  Poor tranducer ergonomics - all sonographers are experiencing more shoulder/arm pain. Unable to obtain views as easily as our old systems.
3.)  Ongoing bugs/software failures.  The system booted up with no DIMAQ operational.  Did not get digital study on that patient.  Had to shut down and restart system and then the DIMAQ worked.  No confidence that the system will work correctly at any given time.
4.)  No resolution to system problems.  After 5 months, we were still waiting for a response to problems with the trackball and SE package.  After upgrade to Rev. 2.0 we had a bug with calc reporting that we  still had to work around.  There were missing cardiac calcs that reportedly will be fixed in Rev 3.0 (AI PHT).
5.)  Inablity to utilize system as needed for commonly performed exams.  For example, we had three cases where we needed to spectral and color Doppler along with a stress echo and were unable to do that.
6.)  Difficulty interfacing with AccessPoint.  After 5 months, we received an upgrade that partially fixes an image quality problem with viewing CV70 images in Accesspoint, but which created another problem with viewing b-colored images.  It took 3 months to set-up ability to auto generate reports and we still had to troubleshoot.  We were unable to take advantage of some the fields on the Patient ID page because we could not store the Patient ID page in DIMAQ.

To view SE images in AccessPoint requires special set-up on CV70 which then sends two studies to the AccessPoint for every exam.  These studies cannot be delted from the hard drive, thus the hard drive is filling up and slowing down use of the workstation.
7.)  Poor user interface.  Many of the interactions with CV70 are unnecessarily cumbersome.  Cannot record the final SE images on tape for back-up/review because when you turn on the tape the images speed up and are recorded that way.  In order to review the tape of a stress echo, Have to close out of the DIMAQ, go into video, review tape, then go back tu Study screen and open the study agian to go back to the final SE images.  While selecting images in SE,  if you select a view and than want to replace it, if you click on the view name it takes you back to the selected image and you have to go and find the previously selected image.
