Re: [echocardiography] Re: Recommendations for Ergonomic Sonographer's Chair

For those who are having trouble picturing this, the patient's head is behind the echocardiographer. This is startling the first time you see it, but it's another example of the varieties out there. I have only seen two people do this over my 30+ years in the field here and in the U.S., but obviously there are more as they both said that that's the way their teachers showed them to do it.

Thanks for sharing your information, Catarina.

Been using Kinnarp's chairs for almost two decades now and we at our lab are very satisfied with them. I think we're in to our third generation by now ;)
The chairs are adjustable in all kinds of ways and has soft paddings on the support for the elbows!
By tradition we, here in Linköping, Sweden, scan with our right hand, having the patient positioned on their left side facing the examiner AND the screen of the echo machine... Find it very comfortable to scan right handed since I *am* in fact right handed.
Can't stress enough on how important it is to sit comfortably to be able to relax while scanning...
Oh, and the beds are adjustable in hight as well, and has a "folding-down"-hatch on its left side, very convenient when you want to obtain a good apical 4C-view...
