I'm happy to send anyone the information about my condition and the
related treatment. Please email me at franni_nm@... with Taste
and Smell in the subject line (so I don't think it's spam) and I'll
get the information to you as soon as possible.

two years ago that I could no longer smell sweet, pleasant, in
particular floral aromas. A rather unsettling development since I am
a home gardener. There is no history of injury, sinus issues or heavy
duty colds or infections that could possibly explain this change. I
have recently seen both a Neurologist and an Ear Nose Throat
specialist. There is no physical explanation for this loss of
function (that is the good news). However, I am left with the
likelihood that this is a permanent situation. I am a 68 year old
female in good health, with no chronic conditions. What mystifies me
is that first of all, I can taste. Perhaps not as keenly as when I
was younger, but I can certainly enjoy food. The puzzle is that I can
smell all things foul.......sewer gas, the rotten egg smell added to
natural gas in our community, rotting alewives on the shores of Lake
Michigan, deteriorating algae on the beach, fecal material, etc, etc,
etc. I am curious to know whether there are others out there who are
experiencing this "selective" loss of smell. Would that the odors
that I can smell were sweet rather than foul. On the other hand, from
the standpoint of survival, better that I can smell a gas leak in my
home! I look forward to a response.
