Hi, I just joined this group in hopes of some advice and knowledge of
this disorder. I am 32y.o. and developed anosmia after (I believe)a
viral cold in August. I ignored it because I thought my smell would
just come back and allergy season begun at the same time. But after my
allergies subsided my smell never came back. However the last month or
so, I started with this AWFUL distorted sense of smell. I have two
distinct smells (a super sweet and a rotten egge type) and they are
both horrid and like nothing I ever smelled before. I almost rather
not smell at all. nothing smells like it should and to make matters
worse, nothing tastes like it should. My doctor started me on
prednisone for one week but no change (weird, but I never noticed any
taste changes when I was anosmic). My #1 question so far is, is this
permanent or could I be on a way to recovering more scents? Any
familiar stories? Did any treatments work?
