Hi all,I recently visited UConn's Taste and Smell Center. This was my first visit to a clinic and I must say I was impressed by the level of testing completed. It was a pleasure having someone understand my loss of smell...since my only other medical experience was with two local Florida ENTs...both of which had no clue!Drs. believe a virus damaged the nerve cells...probably about 7 years ago. On top of that, I have non-allergic rhinitis which causes a lot of inflammation. I was put on 12 days of steroids, hoping to open up my airways and enable me to smell again. It did open the airways significantly, so now it is a pleasure to breath properly again...but no luck with the smell.Drs. suggested I continue with Flonase spray and say perhaps over time I will smell again.I wondered if anyone that did not do well on the steroids actually had any luck with the Flonase over time?I also hear Dr. Charles Kimmel in NY does Kenalog injections. Anyone have any experience with these?Lauren
