Hi Everyone.
I am looking into having my 6 year old tested. He has a genetic
birth defect called Velocardiofacial Syndrome. Along with that comes
a host of problems, including learning disabilities. I am concerned
that he may have dyslexia. He is being held back in school. They
told me that he is having problems putting letters and the sounds of
those letters together and when he wrote the alphabet for his teacher
(they test them at the end of the year) his letters were perfect, but
turned backwards. One I maybe looking too hard for problems, or two,
he may seriously have a problem that we need to deal with. The
school system says that they won't test him until school starts. I
want him tested now. His principal says "Another year of
kindergarten will help if he is dyslexic" I disagree with him.
I am looking for someone to tell me where to start. HELP!!!
Sincerely,
