NIACE ( the National Institute for Continuing Adult Education ) are compiling a
book about mental health matters and have asked me, Roy Birch, to work with them
on the project.
They want me to gather material for the book from a mental health survivor
background. What they are looking for is poems, short stories, personal
experiences, anecdotes, paintings, drawings, photographs – anything that tells
the story of our relationship with mental distress.
Written pieces can be as short as you like, but preferably no longer than 500
words.
Send material either on disc, by e-mail, or through the post. But do it
quickly! The book must be in print by June so I need the material ASAP. In
fact, the absolute deadline for submissions to reach me is March 25th.
The final selection will be made by a panel of three, of which I will be one.
Anyone whose work is chosen will receive £50 and a copy of the book.
Work can be submitted anonymously.
NIACE publications are attractive, informative, concerned, and extremely
worthwhile. The new one will be no exception. So, if you would like the chance
to be part of an extremely worthwhile project AND the possibility of earning
£50, please send your material as quickly as possible and let’s make this the
best one yet.
In addition, please mention this to anyone you know who you feel might be
interested in submitting work for the project.
