Re: [Dyslexia Club] reading comprehension

Hello Trish

My names is James and I have dyslexia. I was in college, It also became
difficult when it came to reading, comprehension and writting reports. I didn't
realize that I needed to ask the school for help and don't stop asking, let them
help you get books on tapes and assistance with you learning difference, you are
not disabled by dyslexia, most likely you are smarter then average. Being
dyslexic is alot like being blind, especially to words that don't really have a
picture or image for, example= the, it, and, and there are many more that really
dont have a visual definition. Because Dyslexic have whats called a "minds eye"
works like a picture dictionary, you'll find that a lot of words that is used in
our language don't have pictures. Look for a book, this one was ment for just
for us dyslexics, because it was written by a dyslexic. Ron C. Davis of the
Reading Research Council wrote "The Gift" with the G backwards will open your
mind to the possiblities of who and what being dyslexic
is all about. You can also research Dyslexia through the search engines too, by
the way Albert Einstein was dyslexic and so is Whoopie Goldberg, Tom Cruise,
Theo Huxstable/Bill Cosby's real son, just to name a few famous Dyslexics. Let
me know how it works out for you or if you want to chat.

Take care,
James

My name is Trish and I have dyslexia. Right now I am in my second
year of college. The major problem that I have is with reading
comprehension. I have a tough time understanding what I am reading
about and it is frustrating. Does any one have any advise as to what
I can do about this problem? If so please email me.
