Re: [Dyslexia Club] Do these symptoms sound familiar??

Angel,

Wow! Sounds similar to my situation. I took my son to a
psychologist and ADD meds was the first thing he recommended
as well. I find it interesting that no one REALLY knows
what they're talking about...not teachers, administrators,
psychs, etc. I'm looking into the Davis kit! There is a
tutoring service here that is looking for tutors; they
provide the tutors they hire with 60 hours of instruction on
the OG method, for a fee of course. I was thinking about
that too. It would probably be cheaper if I learned the
method and tutored him myself! :) Thanks for your help and
good luck! Kyla

the symptoms you listed that your son has. He was tested by
the school psychologist in 3rd grade. Results were average
IQ and NO learning disability. A few months later, we took
him to see a psychologist and the Dr. wanted to try
medication for ADD. We never took him back there again.

homeschooling. He writes like a 1st grader, spells most
words phonetically, and still hasn't memorized his
multiplication facts. His reading has improved quite a bit
in the last two years, but he's still below level.

They offer therapy, but it's expensive and a long process
(up to three years). We ordered the Davis Symbol Mastery
Kit and received it about a week ago. After one week of
using it, his reading seems smoother and he is reading with
comprehension and feeling! He never read with feeling
before. It was always monotone. I am impressed so far, but
feel it is a bit early to come to any conclusions.
