Hello All,
In reference to Dragon, I give it a try and found it more trouble then
it is worth. I recently started reading a very interesting book titled
"The Gift of Dyslexia" and it has totally amazed me. According to the
Author, dyslexics can learn to read and write as a normal person does
and get this, in fact love to do it as well. On page 10, the Author states:
verbal conceptualization: "we are thinking with the sounds of the
language. We are actually carrying on an internal monologue of mental
statements, question and answers."
nonverbal conceptualization: "we are thinking with the meaning of the
language by forming mental pictures of its concepts and ideas. The
pictures aren't just visual. They are more like three dimensional,
multi-sensory movies"
"Keep in mind that dyslexics have little or no internal monologue, so
they do not hear what they are reading unless they are reading aloud.
Instead, they are composing a mental picture by adding the meaning - or
image of the meaning - of each new word as it is encountered."
What all of this means is, dyslexics people view the world from a
different perspective and because of this, we have to learn a different
way of reading and writing. Everyone does not fit the same square hole,
some of us are round pegs. smiles.
