I am a parent of a 14 1/2 yr old. He is to start High School in the
fall. I have been asking his school for years to help him. He
scores very high with modifications, however, they have done nothing
to help to be able to read, spell, and write. I had him
independently tested last week. He scored at a first grade level!!
The person who tested said that the schools have failed him. NO
KIDDING. We live in Central Kentucky. She said there are no schools
here that could help him. Does anyone know of any schools that truly
are interested in educating the child and meeting their need. She
said in order for him to succeed in high school he needs intensive 2
hours a day of help with this, even if it means giving other classes
and making them up later.
Does anyone know of any schools or do you know of any states that
have great schools that would be willing to address this?
I printed a list of famous people with dyslexia for my son to keep
him from getting discouraged.
My son is very intelligent and has high goals for his life. He is
also very mature for his age. He has suffered a lot from being the
victim of harassment and bullying at his current school. I don't
think he will be going back. We are willing to move!!
I am currently looking into a private school in Florida, but need to
also look at other options.
Thanks so much for your help!
