Has anyone child after their surgery been told the child needs to have their
desk face the board in class? Our Dr told us our sons desk should actually face
the board in class, not have a desk that he constantly has to turn his head to
see the board.
We told this to our elementary school for the last 2 years since he had the
surgery. We had to constantly remind the teachers and get his desk change. When
his desk was not facing front and he was left alone his grades were great. When
they would change his group or move the desks into another configuration where
he was side ways to the board or his back was to it he couldnt focus correctly
and his grades would drop.
He has now graduated from elementary school and his new middle school wants to
put him on a 504 plan. They said it is something that should have been done
before. The teachers now will not have a choice but to place him facing the
board.
I just want everyone to know that a child should be placed on a 504 plan if
they have a Dr requested or medical issue that will effect them in school

If you look up "504 plan" online, you'll get a good explanation (I didn't know if I could legally copy and paste that info).  Basically, it is a plan that the...
