Re: Dr. Joya Gastric Sleeve Surgery Food

Hi Jane,

Thanks for your support. I had surgery on May 22 and lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks so I am really happy. I will check the food options that we have as you are suggesting. Also, I must say that I tried the baby food rice with chicken and needless to say it was beyond terrible so I decided not to do it again. I tried the pudding and that is ok. Thanks for all your suggestions

Alex

Hi Alex and welcome to the loser's bench.
I forget your exact date of surgery and will have to find my post op instructions to remember how long I was on clear liquids, full liquids etc.  Potatoes are genearlly considered a poor choice despite them being mushy, they just tend to glob instead of digesting. That doesn't mean that you won't ever be able to eat them, but not at the beginning. What I did was buy the stage 2 baby foods. I loved the baby peas and carrots and you could even try the meats if you are brave. I was never brave enough as they just didn't look very good. It was pretty early on, if I remember, that I started string cheese and chewed it really well..... almost to a clear liquid. It is a great source of protein and low in fat. But give the baby food aisle a look and see what might appeal. Also the sugar free puddings made a nice diversion.
Welcome to the loser's bench !!!
Jane

That is a great idea, Becky. It reminded me of when I was little and had the flu or some stomach upset, I always asked my mom for "runny" mashed potatoes. ...
