Hi Rabecca,
I'm Jane and I had my VSG 9-18-06. I am still sooooo pleased. It has been such a good decision for me. I confess to regaining about 10 lbs after my mother's death as I got into carbs and comfort eating. The beauty of this procedure is that one still can't eat the mass quantities of even carbs. It is easy to graze and haven't we all been grazers. So that is definetely something to be cautious about.
I am also and RN and worked in PACU ( recovery room ) for 18 years and the San Javier Marina hospital reminded me very much of the hospital I worked in in CA. I now work mother baby couplet care. The hospital was exceptionally clean, the staff friendly and well trained. Some things were done differently there than in the states, but the technique continued to be top notch and on par with US care if not better. My room was cleaned at least twice a day. The air conditioning at San Javier is a bit fussy and one has to borrow the remote control for it from other patients... it seems that there was just one control for the unit. Oh well... small stuff. The really important things were well done.
December 31st I'm going in for a breast reduction !! Whoooo hoooo, something I've wanted done for years. There is no way that I would be approved for it had I not lost the weight.
I can't speak highly enough of my experience in Mexico with Dr. Joya and his staff. Blessings on your journeys.
Jane

My husband wrote to Dr Joya last night and is waiting to hear back. He has been reading everything he can get his hands on about Dr Joya and the whole VSG process (preop and postop) and is gaining not only confidence in his decision to go with Dr Joya but in the type of surgery he will be having as well!!! ~happy dance~ I am so excited for him, as weight loss will alleviate so many of his co morbidities!
Thank you for all your help and support!!!
~hugs~
