I am selling hand made crocheted dread bands/ear warmers on eBay.
Please check them out. I am selling them for less than half of what
others sell them for. They are nice and warm. There are some amazing
eye grabbing colors to choose from. They are one size fits all,
machine wash warm, gentle cycle, tumble dry low. Have a great
Day!!!!!!!!!

Once I get more sold on ebay I will just sell them at a flat fee. So
help me get my score up. Thanks...

I also make custom orders starting at 10 dollars. Much Love

This Wednesday I have a friend that is going to braid my hair and
allow that to keep for one month, then she will be dreading it for me.
She states that braiding it will make it easier to dread.

What is your opinion of this?

By the way, I am Katrina, age 38, Pagan and while new to dreads, not
knew to the spirituality inside of me. Have been married for 20 years
and have made the decision that I am going to finally be ME for a
change, dress how I want, do my hair how I want, etc. I am tired of
being what others want me to be!

Looking forward to being me!

hey every body;

i am glad i found this site
my dreads have just passed 3 months -
my GF helped me get them started
with the SupaDread Kit from dreadHeadHQ just before Labor Day.

i am east indian so i have thick straight hair
most of my dreads are getting tighter but i am having problems
with lose hair after i wash - its gotten to the point that i am
washing more and more infrequently - every 5 days -- it takes me 2
days to get all the lose hair back in - i use a dental threader to
make sue the dreadballs are stuck in good - then when i re-wash -
losts of lose hairs -- the dreads that stay together look good but
what can i do about the others?

peace, love & nappyness

Hello everyone! I'm new here. My name is Jessie, I'm a 27 y/o SAHM in San
Diego, CA. I just dreaded my hair for the first time last night and I really
like it so far. I wasn't going to use a wax or anything but decided to last
min. because some of the locks aren't holding too well no matter what I do to
them. I have a birthday party for one of my son's friends today and I wanted
them to look good. So, for a temporary fix it's good enough for me. It's just
a hair wax I had bought a long while ago when I was experimenting with different
styles.

I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on tightening the locks better.
I've found some tips on the net but most of them require you to use some kind of
product. To be honest, I prefer not to use anything on my hair (I think I've
had the same can of hairspray for 5 years now) unless I'm going out somewhere
special or to a club or something. I do plan to use a salt water solution
(trying to find some sea salts...harder than you would think) to help and do
hand rolls and just fiddle with them a bit. But, any advice would be great.

I've heard of wrapping the hair in embroidery thread and I'm curious how to do
this. Also, how do you use a crochet hook or whatnot? I'm having trouble
finding these methods online (well, anything more than a mention).

Also, when can I wash it? I've heard everything from waiting 8 days to waiting
8 weeks. My hair is kind of thin, straight, and gets oily easily.

Any tips or advice you can give that I didn't ask about is also welcome. :D

*hugs*
Jessie

Deadlines are on Saturdays at midnight, GMT.

Dreads News will not only be posted in this group, but in any other
dreadlocks or natural hairstyles oriented site that will accept it.
Announcements will be posted in the group before the newsletter
is posted anywhere other than our site, in case anyone has a reason
why they don't want their content associated with something.
It also has its own website at
http://dreadlocks.rr.nu

Feel free to promote the site and the group using whatever ethical
means you prefer. The more you promote it, the more it will promote
you.

Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in Dreads @Yahoo! Groups.

Regular posts to the group are in the public archive,
but they are not automatically considered part ofD
reads News, our weekly newsletter.

Posts or other content that you would like to appear
in the newsletter must have an explicit statement that
one wishes it to be part of the newsletter.

The sections of the newsletter are:
	 Articles
	 Dreadlock Inspirations and Affirmations
	 Reggae/Soca Song of the Week
	 Dreadlocks Site of the Week
	 and Dreads Weekly Classifieds

You may also suggest a section or become a regular
weekly or monthly columnist. There are opennings for
the first, second, third, and fourth Mondays of each
month.

At the moment, the group owner (me) is the editor. If
you would like the position, please let me know.

Specifics on Submissions

Articles - Must be written in U.S. or U.K. English, but
may have some Carribbean, African, or other slang so long
as it could be understood by someone who may not be from
the regions. Some of our readers may not be native
speakers of English, and may need to use translation
software.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
Personal Stories to do with dreads
How you came to wear dreadlocks
Legends and Stories of ancestors or deities with
dreadlocks.
Short stories or serials (meaning you'll post one
chapter a month) in which the main character or the general
culture is pro dreads
Styling and care tips for particular hair types
Thorough reviews of dreadlock related products
	 Marijuana legislation and activism
The Rastafarian, Voudun, Asatru, and Shaivite faiths
	 Opinions and whatnots

Inspirations and Affirmations - Original poems, sayings, pep
talk, and artwork. Art can be uploaded to the group photo
library.

Reggae/Soca Song of the Week - Brief, 1 or 2 paragraph reviews
of a Reggae or Soca song you like alot.

Dreadlocks Site of the Week - A Rastafarian, Voudun, Asatru,
or Shaivite site featuring people with dreadlocks, or the
personal homepage of someone with dreadlocks, or an informative
site, whatever. It can be commercial so long as it has something
legit to do with dreadlocks.

Dreads Weekly Classifieds - Submit your for sale, personals,
auction links, announcements, memorials, thanks and penances, etc.

Columns - Each columnist (up to 4) will get one Monday per month
to say their piece on a particular subject. You can answer
questions about dreadlocks that you've seen people ask, or give a
weekly inspiration, or whatever. Pick a subject. You'll be expected
to produce one article of about 200 to 500 words per month.

Links - Separate from the newsletter, this is a raw text list of
useful and inspirational dreadlocks links. This list will be sent
out twice a week. Send links in straight away, with the site title,
url, and description, in this format:

Title: So and So's Dreads
URL: http://www.dread.locks
Description: This site is about So and So's journey...you get the
point.

You may post submissions to the group: dreads@yahoogroups.com
or you may send them to me for inclusion in the next Monday's
issue at webmatron@...
