Re: [dreads] moisturizing locks

hi i would not worry too much about the moisturising i only do it once a month i
use cocunut oil which is great it gets right into them, i wash my hair once
sometimes twice a week i use Original, orange flavour but i get it with tee tree
oil in it as this is very good for the dread it also keeps nits away.
hope this is good for you

free love

hello and much love to all!
i am a new member here, and this is my very first post, and i wanted

i have been a lover of dreadlocks for many years, and i finally
decided to go with my desires and let my hair lock up. i started
them about 2 months ago by sectioning and backcombing. so far things
are wonderful, and i look forward to the journey and stages my locks
will experience. i had helped my husband in the past with his, and
so i felt very comfortable. they are tightening well, and though it
hasn't been long, i am pretty pleased. i am one to do alot of
research, and one thing i am concerned about is moisturizers. i wash
my hair about 2 times a week with a dreadlock shampoo from
dreadheadhq.com that a friend gave me. i am on the hunt for other
natural and chemical/additive free shampoos, and i have found that
this washing schedule seems to work pretty well for me. every so
often, i spray them with a salt water mix i made, and otherwise i
leave them alone. i do not use any wax or dressings, as i was a
little worried they would cause buildup and greasiness and slow the
locking process. i had used dreadheadhq beeswax in my husbands
locks, and i really used too much.(he no longer has locks) my locks
don't feel too dry, but i am a bit concerned that perhaps i should
be using some oils or something to keep moisture in my locks to
prevent breaking, etc. I would like to use essential oils, would
this be okay? what do you sweet dreaded folks use, if anything, to
moisturize your locks? what sort of schedule, if any, do you use to
wash your locks, and if you do wash them, what kind of soap or
shampoo do you use? i think i need to make a trip to the health
store! any help would be greatly appreciated!!
thanks, great vibes, and much love and blessings to everyone!!
om shanti!!
