Bobby and I had scheduled a meeting with Preston's teachers, principal and therapist to talk about his objectives and his behavior issues (recently started biting)...... Since we have a dear friend that is a special ed teacher we thought it would be great for him to sit in and advocate for our Preston.... Preston's spec. ed teacher called a Marietta City schools representative to be present at this meeting so all of Preston's needs could be met. Turns out that the notes this MCS representative had stated that Preston not only has Down syndrome but is also severely Autistic. These notes were dated     3/14/07 and were from the school Psychologist at his pre-K program..... I never received these notes and I was present at this evaluation with the school Psychologist and she never said she thought he was autistic.....There was no mention of Preston having a dual Dx at his IEP meeting before school started in Aug. of 2007. Had there been, I would have done things differently. I am so angry right now and sad to know my son has not been receiving the proper education and therapies he should have.

I visited the school he will now be attending,  the one that is better able to serve Preston's needs soon after the meeting ended today. This was a terrible thing to go through today.....I am tired.
