Re: [diet_buddies] First Day of ACTUALLY Trying!

I am a firm believer in easing into exercise.  First off, if you get too sore, then a person natural instinct then tends to be towards avoiding it.  So my goals are to always go just a little farther than I feel like I can do.  Like if once around the block is easy, then go 1 1/2 times around until that gets easy, then make it 2 times.

I also have to fight snacking - especially on weekends when my life is more my own.  For 14 years my dh worked evenings while I was a sahm - so I found that if I ate in the morning, I tended to want to snack all day long - up until 11 pm - 1 am even!  So to combat that, I wouldn't allow myself to eat until 4 pm - which still gave me 8-9 hours or so to have my meals in.  So when I wanted to snack in the evening after the kids were done, I hadn't totally maxed out my caloric intake for the day.  I don't really recommend that for most people and don't even really do it myself anymore, but I do work with what works best for me - I tend to eat the same thing day in & day out at times - so usually have a bagel each morning & take it with me to eat on the way to work rather than before I leave home.  Then lunch is a frozen meal.  Dinner depends somewhat on the season - summer, a salad with grilled chicken & a dressing.  Winter tends to be more soups in the crockpot.  Other people might find this boring and likely to cause them to over eat.  But again - writing it down is going to help you be aware of what your trigger points are & such.

Subject: [diet_buddies] First Day of ACTUALLY Trying!

Breakfast: raisin bran and skim milk

Snack: handful of pretzels

Lunch: salad with 1/4 cup taco meat, light Catalina dressing, raw carrot

Snack: handful rice crackers, piece of colby jack, chunk of deer
bologna...THEN a bowl of raisin bran/skim milk.  (OUCH!)

Supper: piece of a piece of steak, steamed cauliflower

Snack: glass of vegetable juice

Exercise: 20 minutes on eliptical (I have to ease into using it again
or I get sick/dizzy)

One big accomplishment: I drank LOTS of water!!!  Usually I hardly
drink anything at all.  I like water, and the Crystal Light packets
(lemonade) make it even better ☺

Obviously, my worst time of the day is always in the 1-3 pm range.
Lunch has worn off, it isn't quite supper time, and I just get so
darn "snacky"!  If I eat something salty, then I want something sweet
to balance it out and vice versa.  I need to work on this big time!!
