There are lists for diabetics, and lists for vegetarians, but until now no lists for diabetic vegetarians like myself. Diet plays a big part in the control of diabetes, and those of us who are also vegetarians have special needs.

The purpose of this list is to provide a place where a vegetarian diet good for diabetics can be given by those who know, and learned by those who do not.

Please consider this as a place to discuss our special problems, and to provide recipes for vegetarian meals which do not worsen our diabetic condition. Since we have two topics for this list, it will not be "off topic" to discuss either or both topics here.

All types of vegetarians are welcome -- vegan, lacto, lacto-ovo, etc. All types of diabetics are welcome -- type 1, type 2, gestational (pregnant) diabetics, etc. We even welcome those who qualify only on one of our two topics, but who are interested in learning about the other, or helping those of us who fit both topics.

And we are not nutritionists or physicians here, so please continue to seek their help as needed.
