RE: [diabetes_recipes] need your help

I also recommended thst you learn what a portion size is and be sure that you are only eatting the number of servings recommended by the dietician.  It made a difference for me.  I don't eat all of the pasta I can with spaghetti sauce (which has a lot of sugar in some cases), garlic bread and salad with dressing and ice cream all in the same meal.  I pace them and moderate the number of carb servings per meal.  It not only made a difference in my blood glucose levels, but also in how I feel.  Pasta can cause a surge in your sugars if not eaten in smaller amounts.  Why not add vegetables to your pasta sauce too.

Two suggestions:

1. Get, if you do not already have, a copy of DR. BERNSTEIN'S DIABETES SOLUTION.
2. Ask your doctor for a referral to a dietician.

Subject: [diabetes_recipes] need your help

Allright members....just joined this group because I need some
help.I'm a type 2 and have been under control for about 6 years. All
of a sudden, I'm testing and getting readings of over 400. I guess
its time to drastically change my diet (you need to understand that I
haven't had to do that yet. I actually could eat anything and be ok
just taking glypizide once a day.) Ican adjust somethings but I do
have a few downfalls that I need to find yummy substitutes for. The
biggest one is ice cream. I LOVE IT!!!!!!! I've tried sugar free
brands that are in the supermarket and I don't like them. I've been
spoiled over the years and it has to be creamy and it has to be real.
No fillers. This may sound weird but I can actually taste the
difference. Trust me, I was once challenged to do a taste test and I
passed with flying colors.  The other is bread and chips. I make
homemade bread all the time and a great snack for me is homemade
salsa with tortilla chips. The last food is pasta. I could eat it
everyday. The low carb pasta I've had is awful.

So I turn to all of you who may already have adjusted your
eating habits. Do I need to cut these items out of my life and be
miserable or do you have recipes and brands that I can use to keep
them in my culinary world. I realize you all may have done this for
someone else before(I haven't read ANY posts yet. I will as soon as I
send this) so you can send directly to me instead of posting to the
group if you want to JTBear@....

I appreciate any and all suggestions.
      thanks in advance
