We will be presenting Reiki classes on Sunday, February 22. The classes
will be at Happy Acres in High Springs. Directions will be sent with
registration confirmation.

The total cost for level 1 is $75.00 and includes attunement, handout,

The action to put your hands on yours or other people's or animal's
body to heal is in our nature. When we feel pain the first thing we
do is to bring our hands where we have pain. When we have fever we
put our hands on our forehead to reduce suffer. The touch brings
heat, serenity and healing. Animals do almost the same when they leak
a wounded part of their body. In the animal world a mother leaks her
kids when they are sick and human beings touch their babies with
their hands.
The human or animal body irradiates heat and energy, which is vital
force. This concept is well known and mentioned in all the human
cultures, and this energy has different names according to each of
these cultures. For example in India it is called Prana and because
of this name we today talk about prana healing. Chinese call it Chi
and for this reason today we know about Chi Kung, an ancient healing
discipline.
In Reiki the healers have to open the energetic channels and to
remove the blocks through harmonisations. The healers receive the
energy to heal them and connect to the source of the universal
energy, also called universal Ki. Reiki is not a religion; neither is
connected to a religion. It is the source of life. It is an entity
and as a concept is even older than religious philosophy. Every
living thing has Ki inside. Who or what receives a harmonisation or
attenuement is in direct contact with its illuminated source. There
is more than one level of this. With the first level the living
entity becomes a channel that drives the energy. When the first one
is received, in the future the entity has to put its hands on its or
other entities body to connect to the universal Ki. The energy will
flow automatically....

Reiki Master, what does it mean? Some say it is a level of
achievement in Reiki, whilst others say it is an acceptance that
Reiki has mastered the healer. And there are many definitions in-
between.
To me, being a Reiki Master carries a great deal of responsibility
which I must humbly accept. This breaks down into three main
responsibilities.
The first responsibility is to oneself, to nurture and develop from
within, and to release any negativity from within.
Often in today's world, we come across conflict that we can choose to
either take on board or calmly resolve. We may get disease that we
are to heal from holistically. We are challenged with negative
emotional reactions which we must let go of. We are challenged with
residual negative emotions from our past, feelings such as worry,
anger, low self-steem, we are not to allow these feelings to fester
and grow but to let them go and heal. Above all, we have to take care
of ourselves, living by the Reiki Principles as given by Mikao Usui,
the founder of Reiki, and allowing ourselves Reiki healing every day.
After all, we are not of much use to anyone else if we are ourselves
a mess! I find that for myself and for other Reiki Masters, this
first responsibility is the hardest to carry out. It is an ongoing
effort which gets easier with years of practice. The key is to keep
going back to the teachings of Usui with an open mind and humble
spirit....

Attunement is the process by which the Master opens the initiate's
crown, heart and palm chakras along with their third eye and throat
chakras to pass on the technique of Reiki to the initiate and forge a
link between the everlasting Universal Energy and the recipient.
Reiki Attunement is an extremely spiritual experience by responding
to the voice of the Divine Spirit within. You are attuning yourself
with the energies of the Universe and releasing your intention to the
Universe to be a healer and a medium to channel the positive
vibrations of Light and Love.
An attunement makes a person more psychically sensitive and
facilitates the channeling of greater amounts of Reiki energy.
After the Attunement all the natural centers of energy in the body
star to vibrate at very high frequencies and open the recipient to a
field of Higher Consciousness and sensitize the initiate to messages
from Reiki spirit guides and angels during the process of Attunement.
An attunement is a life long gift that can never be lost or diminish;
it is always contained in the heart and spirit of the recipient as a
gift of love, life and laughter. And this gift keeps multiplying each
and every time you channelise Reiki energy and spread Love and attune
yourself with the Higher Powers....

What is Attunement
Learning Reiki attunement is the first step in mastering the Reiki
process. With attunement, your channels are opened and you become
connected with the universal energy. Your chakras are cleansed and
energy blockages are cleared.
How to achieve Reiki attunement
Although Reiki is a spiritual process, it can be practiced or
experienced by people of different faiths. The explanations of Reiki
will differ amongst practitioners, but no arcane rituals or set
beliefs are necessary to experience Reiki. There are two schools of
thought about how to achieve Reiki attunement. Some practitioners
feel that attunement must be done with a Reiki master. Others believe
that people can attune themselves, just like Mikao Usui, the founder
of Reiki, did in the early 1900s.
Reiki Attunement with a Reiki Master
There are many benefits in seeking out a Reiki teacher, also known as
a Shihan. A Shihan will be able to answer any questions you may have
about Reiki. There are many different styles of Reiki, so it is
important that you choose a teacher that practices the style you are
most comfortable with. Although a Reiki teacher will be using their
energy in the attunement process, the purpose is to help you to
balance your energy flow....

I wouldn't say that I'm a Japanese Reiki Practitioner. I do have
Reiki I certification, having been attuned and learned the basic hand
positions of Reiki, and having practiced doing Reiki on my teacher,
my children, and myself. Still, I went into my lessons with a healthy
dose of skepticism and a real desire to feel something - anything -
that would make me believe in its truth.
I'm the kind of person who is on a continual spiritual search, never
having found something totally believable in religion. I also have
always been interested, though never believed, in the idea of psychic
energies and the like. So learning about Japanese Reiki healing was
interesting to me, especially because my Reiki Master is the parent
of one of my daughter's friends. She offered to teach me Reiki I, and
I accepted.
I was pregnant at the time, and interested in anything that would
help me relax and deal with the stresses of pregnancy and the
upcoming onset of labor. So, I went in with an open mind. She talked
to me about the history of Japanese Reiki, and how she became a
Japanese Reiki practitioner. She is a very spiritual person, and
absolutely believes in what she is doing and saying. I was
fascinated. She did an attunement on me, and though I sat very still
and willed myself to feel something, I can't really say that I felt
much, though her hands were very warm....

Like the rest of North America in November of 1995, I had the wonderful
opportunity to witness the release of the Beatles' Anthology CD with
its feature song entitled "Free As A Bird". What struck me about the
accompanying video was the simplicity of the clip - that being, the
simple sound of bird's wings. It is as if the person watching was
actually the bird flying out the window, across the city, literally
having the freedom to travel from one place to the next, harnessed by
its own internal power force. This reminded me of that same internal
power force that each one of us carries within ourselves - that inner
freedom that I call Reiki energy.
Throughout history, it has been pervasive that society has maintained
a "separateness", that being: searching for external answers or
directions, instead of peering inward to the self. I have noticed in my
own life that it is far too easy to look to someone for answers,
instead of taking the thornier path and struggling with my inner self.
When we struggle with our inner self, we actually get in touch with
that concentrated Reiki energy that flows within us....

There are many alternative forms of healing being used in the world
today. One of the most famous is Reiki. Reiki takes it's name from the
Japanese form of two Chinese ideograms, REI which means soul, spirit or
ghost and KI (qi or chi) which means energy or life force.
Reiki is a form of spiritual healing that was officially introduced in
the early part of the 20th Century, by Mikao Usui, for the treatment of
physical, mental, emotional and spiritual problems. It is said Usui
received the wisdom of the system after fasting and meditating for
three weeks on Mount Kurama. Reiki practitioners use a system akin to
laying on of hands, this allows them the channel the energy of the
universe through them into the patient.
There are three stages to Reiki, level 1, level 2 and level three more
often given the name master level. Any one who attains the master level
attunement is also shown how to attune others, and thereby increasing
