Dear Mr. Bass,

Those who post to the detox list must be members of the list. The list is not
to be used for commercial purposes. Not knowing the true purpose of your study
I am reluctant to agree but will forward your request on.

I do not advise anyone on the list to respond to your request.

First, many of our members are allergic to the phone because of the fungicide
tab in the hand set and would experience a setback by a long phone call.

Second, each member most likely values his or her privacy more than satisfying
your curiosity. We have experienced much loss of privacy in our search for real
treatment and cannot afford to lose any more.

Third, we do not really know who you are. We don't really know what purposes
are to be made of our answers. Therefore why should we respond?

Fourth, nothing will change about the medical care we have failed, and continue
to fail to receive. The reason we do not receive curative care from physicians
is that most physicians are ignorant of the effects of toxic substances on the
body, do not care to find out by reading the volumnous research or MSDSs, do not
even recognize illness caused by toxic exposure and actually prescribe
additional toxins to those of us who have experienced toxic exposure,
prescribing patent medicines, often multiple medications which almost
universally have damaged us further.

The reason we need a group is that we have learned we must help ourselves or
find those few real doctors who have learned to help us.

Thus learning a new approach (the purported purpose of your study) will only
help doctors serve us if it is accompanied by actual study of the effects of
toxic exposure--real knowledge--not likely in most cases, I am afraid, and then
actual study of effective detox methods, also not likely in most cases.

Hello,

I'm writing to ask your permission to make a posting on your site
about a research study for people with chronic illnesses. The study is
sponsored by The National Health Council, a nonprofit organization
whose member organizations include voluntary health agencies such as
the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, and the
Alzheimer's Association. The purpose of the study is to understand
how people with chronic conditions (and their caregivers) perceive
the quality of healthcare in America, and how they might help make
the healthcare system more responsive to patient needs.

Not everyone who responds will be qualified and invited to participate,
but those that are will be asked to participate in a scheduled 90-minute
telephone conference. For their time we will send $50 to the participant
or their favorite charity.
