Besides being celiac, it sounds like you also have a thyroid condition. Thyroid
metobolism problems are very common in celiacs and very hard to diagnose on
standard tests. Fluoride compounds interfere with thyroid function and this
interference will not show up on the kind of thyroid tests given. To find this
out you might get your doctor to give you some T3 and see if it helps you to
begin to metabolize your food into heat and energy rather than just packing it
away into fat. With the right thyroid dose and avoidance of all gluten a celiac
should be able to lose about 10 pounds month. Other precautions to help
improve the thyroid function is to get all scotchguard items, all teflon coated
pans and permanent press clothing out of your environment. Try to be sure you
are also not exposed to any pesticides including eating ONLY organic food.
Adult celiacs (prior to treatment) are either very heavy or very thin. But with
the right treatment these weight problems can be quickly corrected.
Another thing that long term celiacs often (about 50%) have are allergies or
intolerances to dairy, beef, eggs and chicken so these should be tested by
avoidance.
