Hi I am new here! Last night my hubby and I took our daughter (5) to
the local Y for a pool party with Girl Scouts. Both he and I noticed
the strong chlorine smell upon entering the building. The pool area
was a million times stronger. We sat out in the observation area and
he started complaining after being there only 20 minutes that the
smell was burning his nose. I kinda shunned it as I couldn't believe
that his nose would be sensitive to anything considering that he
works with STINKY cows everyday and that doesn't seem to bother him.
Well, later when we were going to dinner, Jessie said that her throat
was sore. I was experiencing minor chest pains here and there but
nothing definate. By the time we got home, I felt like I had been
hit by a truck. I laid down and woke up 2 hours later with a sore
throat. I had a hard time sleeping for the rest of the night because
it hurt so bad.
This a.m., both of us have a sore throat and feel pretty lousy. Has
anyone experienced this before? How long did it last?
We have had sensitivities to chemicals before. I can't paint a room
in my house without ending up with a "cold". Larry hates it when I
use bleach in cleaning because he can't stand the smell.
Right now what really scares me is how did this affect my 20 month
old. She seemed to be in good spirits today. Didn't eat much last
night, but that has been normal for the last few weeks.
Sorry to be so lengthy, but I hope someone out there can help.
Thanks!
Jane
