This is a request for additional comments.  It is not the request that I posted earlier.  This request focuses on specific situations.  It should only be completed by MCS sufferers who experienced difficulties as students or teachers in a traditional school setting.

As explained previously, I am seeking comments for a report I am writing on The Challenges Faced by MCS Sufferers in a Traditional School Setting (whether as a child or as an adult).  I have been an allergy and MCS sufferer since birth myself.  I had a tough time in school because of my condition.

This report will be helpful to a lot of people so please take time to respond –even if you did not respond to the part posted earlier.

I am particularly interested in the following although any comments relating to the topic would be helpful:

 

1.       As a student, did you ever experience difficulties in a traditional school setting due to your MCS condition?  Yes/No

 

2.       As a teacher, did you ever experience difficulties in a traditional school setting due to your MCS condition?  Yes/No/Not Applicable

 

3.       Have you ever sought a reasonable accommodation from a school for your MCS condition?  Yes/No

 

4.       Have you ever had difficulty getting the medical documentation about your MCS condition that a school requested of you?    Yes/No/Not Applicable

 

 

5.       Did you ever have difficulty performing well in a physical education class due to your MCS condition?

 

 

6.       Did you ever have difficulty performing well in a competitive sport due to your MCS condition?

 

 

7.       Did you ever have difficulty using a library due to your MCS condition?

 

 

8.       Did you ever go to the nurse's station at school for assistance due to your MCS condition?  Yes/No

 

 

9.       Did you ever have difficulty staying in the nurse's station at school due to reactions to something in the nurse's station?

 

 

10.   Did you ever have difficulty during a field trip due to your MCS condition?

 

 

11.   Did you ever have difficulty riding a school bus due to your MCS condition?

 

 

12.   Did you ever have difficulty giving an oral presentation in class due to your MCS condition?

 

 

13.   Did you ever have difficulty participating in extra-curricular activities due to your MCS condition?

 

 

14.   Did you ever experience ridicule or contempt from students or from teachers because they misunderstood your appearance or behavior caused by your MCS condition?

 

 

15.   Did you ever have difficulties socializing with students or with teachers due to fatigue, being on edge or being in a state of reacting to something due to your MCS condition?

 

 

16.   Did you ever experience reactions to cleaning chemicals, deodorizers or other substances in a restroom at school due to your MCS condition?

 

 

17.   Did you ever have difficulty meeting homework deadlines due to your MCS condition?

 

 

18.   Did you ever have difficulties getting a good night's sleep due to your MCS condition?

 

 

19.   Did you ever have difficulties getting to school on time (due perhaps to early morning reactions or not getting enough sleep the previous night) due to your MCS condition?
