I took a digestive enzyme Lypo Gold> It has lipase, amylase and
protease oh and also lactase in it. Within a short time I felt like
I was circulating Mercury all over my body. I have my amalgams
out,. but have never Chelated due to still having some sort of metal
around 2 artificial teeth. Wondering if anyone knows if digestive
enzymes are bad for people with Mercury in their system? I have
read that protease will put release mercury into the blood. If this
is true it would be a bad thing right?

Thanks

I've been using enzymes on self and kiddo for some time, and done a fair amount of reading.I've never heard anything about enzymes interacting with metals. They just help break down food. but Karen DeFelice is a good enzyme expert to ask, use the contact link from her website...

Yes,
I have not heard of this either.
You could have reacted to one of the enzymes.
I know that Andy suggests animal based enzymes for some reason that may relate to this, though I can't remember the page???
Perhaps if you have a chance to look in Amalgam Illness somewhere for it.

Hi Dean, when you recommend a flexite partial for missing front upper
teeth (only), is this what they call a "flipper", which is supported
by flexite material that is molded to the inside of your palate?

Obviously we would not want the kind of partial that has metal clips...

If both front-most upper teeth are missing and one gets a flexite
partial to fill the gap, this is not considered "crossing the midline" ?

I assume such a partial will not be very useful for eating carrots or
apples, etc. Oh well.

Hello,

I'm new here and could really use some help. I am reaching out to you
from underneath the biggest brain fog so pls forgive my lack of eloquence.

44 yr old female
mother of 2 small children
Have 7 silver amalgams and one porcelain crown which was done in Costa
Rica w/o a root canal.
Have been on very good health all my life.
Last year one of my fillings came out and I swallowed it.
Shortly after I began having tremors, my health declined rapidly.
Joints swelled, could only walk w/ knee braces.
SEVERE brain fog.
Memory loss
Thyroid crashed.
Adrenals crashed.
BP skyrocketed and constant tachycardia (racing heart) w/ chest pain)
Was bed-ridden until I went on physiological doses of cortisol.
The cortisol made me functional again.

I didn't get the dental connection at the time - only in retrospect.

Last week I lost another pc of the tooth and went to a dental clinic
as a walk-in which meant I had to wait in the clinic ALL DAY. (7 hrs)
When I was seen the dentist took xrays and said I needed a root canal
and crown. She "cleaned up" the tooth which means she drilled (w/o a
dental dam or anything) and then put in a temporary filling made of
some sort of paste. They sent me home and told me to go get a root
canal and crown ASAP.

Since that visit my health is declining again! I'm really scared. The
dreaded brain fog is back. My heart is pounding again and I wake up
w/ chest pains. Joint pain is back. Fingers are stiff. Lots of hypo
thyroid symptoms. My kidneys ache, My liver hurts, and the muscles in
the back of my neck are REALLY painful. Also my eyes hurt to turn.
This all just came on at once.

I ordered Cutler's book but don't have it yet. I am reading
Uninformed Consent and can see that I don't want a root canal.
This dang brain fog is making it so hard for me to figure all this out.

I am taking cortisol (Cortef)
B12
selenium
vit c
b complex
cayenne capsules (for my heart)
celtic sea salt in water

Here are my specific questions if anyone is inclined:

I know I can't chelate w/ all this metal in me - what else should I
AVOID right now?

What SHOULD I be taking right now?

If my symptoms are from mercury poisoning then is there anything I can
take now to help get it out even though I still have fillings?

I'm assuming the book will explain what I should do instead of the
root can/crown tooth?

Basically, I guess I'm asking, if you were in my position what would
you do/ not do at this point while waiting to get the metals out?

Big thanks to anyone who has read this far!

============= Welcome DD. Sorry for your brainfog.
This is what I use successfully for my brainfog, up to 4 times a day when I
experience brainfog.

Brain Fog Recipe
3/4 tsp of Anhydrous Citric Acid mixed with,
3/4 tsp of Sodium Bicarbonate (BP grade) with,
1/4 tsp of Potassium Bicarbonate (BP grade).
Add 1/2 cup of water, wait for the excessive bubbling to pass ( eg 15
seconds) and drink.

================DD, look in the files section to see if there is a metalfree
dentist in your area.
While you find a dentist, get a Panoramix X-ray and post it to the group so
we can help you with options of what to do about the state of your teeth.
Dr Hulda Clark says that it is better to leave your amalgams in rather than
take it out improperly. That means you cannot start chelation.
DeanSA has an excellent site on all dentalwork you need to know. Spend alot
of time there reading and inform yourself and empower yourself with that
knowledge. The days of patients just sitting iin a dentist's chair and let
them do what they think is good for you is forever over. You decide what is
good for you. DeanSA has a list of safe compounds for you to choose from and
what to do on the day of your dental visit, what you expect from your
dentist and loads more interesting information.

====================I can understand that you are scared with all these
symptoms all at once. I feel for you DD.
You must know that all of this will eventually go as you start treating
yourself. All the symptoms sounds so familiar for most of us on this group.
Reading your post, made me remember the time in 2004 when I felt just like
you do now.
This group and FDC has some remarkable members who have gone through exactly
what you are experiencing and helped me get through a lot of stuff and
taught me a tremendous amount. Sometimes it felt like this group was my
brain as I wasn't able to think for myself.:-)
They will contribute to your posts to assist you through your journey.
Andy's books and these groups will help you pull through.
And when some days everything becomes tooo much, you are welcome to offload
and rant and rave a little on this list, and we will all understand :-)
Somebody will come up with some encouragement or solution or advice, or an
ear. Good luck.

===================DD, you are spot on. No chelation with metal in your
body.
You could avoid things like Cilantro, Dhania, Chinese Parsley, Coriander,
Chlorella, things that causes redistribution of metals,
specially if you have elevated cysteine.
It is advised that you do a week or two of a Sulphur Exclusion Diet. Here is
a list of Sulphur foods and supplements and how to do it.
http://www.livingnetwork.co.za/healingnetwork/sulfur_sulphur_foods.html
This is a vital step for mercury poisoned people.
Some do well with sulphur, others crash from the redistribution it causes.
Find out whether you do well with sulphur or not. This is crucial. I found
out much later how sick sulphur made me, although I was under the impression
my body loves it. Big surprise.

> What SHOULD I be taking right now?

====================Look in the file section for the supplement list that
Andy recommends and start adding each, one by one (every 3 days?) so that
you can see the reaction you have from each, or not.
From your current list, I miss for instance Zinc and Magnesium. Vit E, Omega
3.
Your Hair Test will give you a better indication of what you need more of or
less of those supp's that Andy recommends.
If you haven't done a hair test, I would suggest that that is a priority for
most of us. Here's a link:
http://www.livingnetwork.co.za/healingnetwork/hairtest.html

> If my symptoms are from mercury poisoning then is there anything I can
> take now to help get it out even though I still have fillings?

==============Best for you to do now is make sure your adrenals and Thyroid
is supported , to help you through your dental procedures.
You can start tracking your temperatures daily which will give you an
indication of your adrenals and thyroid. For information on the saliva test
, you can go to this link. And make sure you're on Andy's supp's that
pertain to you.
http://www.livingnetwork.co.za/healingnetwork/adrenals_thyroid.html
>
> I'm assuming the book will explain what I should do instead of the
> root can/crown tooth?

=============Don't let anyone make this decision for you, except you.
Read, read and read more until you are satisfied with your own decision.
My suggestion is to remove the tooth and clean the cavitation out.
Root canals for me is a no no. I believe all of them have low grade
infections of some sort without the pain.
I personally had 5 rootcanalled tooth removed (wasn't an easy decision at
the time) and my health improved hugely.

> Basically, I guess I'm asking, if you were in my position what would
> you do/ not do at this point while waiting to get the metals out?

=================1.Get Andy Cutler's books and start reading, (very
interesting)
2. Prepare for your dental procedures
     http://www.livingnetwork.co.za/healingnetwork/day_of_dental_visit.html
3. Use Andy's recommended supplements , in the files section.
4. Track your temp's for an indication of your adrenals and thyroid.
And consider a Saliva test. I gave the link above.
DD, iI think that is a good start to keep you busy till you remove all metal
from your mouth, tattoos included.
Keep in touch and keep asking to clear things out.
Good luck to you.
Kai

A flipper is really any plate that has one tooth on it if I am correct.
Called so, because when you bite down on the artificial tooth it slips the
other side free.
Flexite plates do not have the problem as they mould/hook around the teeth
and offer a better support.
Normal acrylic plates can be aesthetically more pleasing in the front, but
over time they will strip your gums.

> Obviously we would not want the kind of partial that has metal clips...
Oh, please no!
:-)

> If both front-most upper teeth are missing and one gets a flexite

mmmm, it is, but since it is removable it is not as big a problem. Plus
Flexite is flexible, but it might impede CranioSacral flow.
It would have to be assessed.
The big no-no is a bridge across the midline that cannot be removed.

> apples, etc. Oh well.
Nope, your carrot eating teeth would be behind :-)

I'm new to this site as well and have had that brain fog symptons
for 2 1/2 years, and yes doctor after doctor saying that im healthy and
even natural docs with no heart, all in ego.

Mine started with this pulsating problem somewheres in my back parts, couldnt
tell where its from ,either in upper-middle back area or neck or head because of
the vibrations and then i had and still have this feeling of
light-headiness.Would like to know if anyone experiences this pulsating
problem,my pulse rate is fine and heart beats are normal,it isnt that,it sounds
like more its the adrenal glands,i dont know???

Had thyroid checked 4 times last year, all good!Had cat scan of head and neck, all
good except for a little arthritis in neck.

Ive been a bodybuilder for over 25 years.I eat mostly all vegetables and whole
grains, all the good stuff except for occaisionally some beef.I'm wandering if my
b12 could be a problem as well??

Cant seem to get a doctor, like i said they are in the ego and want no part of
it,i have experienced being judged and grudged all this time, maybe because i
have long hair and that i was a big bodybuilder, ent doctors never did a
thing, neurosurgeons just basically said to get back to working out and told me
to just walk in a straight line, bullshit!!
Last doctor who was excepting patients gave me about 3 minutes of his so
precious time and basically said get to the point and wouldn't listen to my
story,i mentioned possible mercury posoning and he said "DREW you don't have
heavy metals, its all just in your head and then said its not going to work out
as doctor-patient.

This is what has been going on here with me in Canada(n.b. and ont.)I have 7
mercury fillings and did eat a lot canned tuna years ago and was wandering if
maybe when i got 2 teeth hauled in the last 3 years and put to sleep as well,
maybe mercury got into my system when they pulled the teeth.Wanted to know as
well why is Dr.CUTLER the only guy that ive found that says CHLoRELLa is not
good for heavy metals??I know what he says that it just mobilizes them but yet
every other site says they are teriffic for detoxing and to take 25 grams of
this super food. I dont know? Im confused!

I did a hair analysis and have done a month of hm detox
with(chlorella,ala,nac,magnesium,selenium)and no change,this was done
by a naturalpathic doctor who is well known in the area,he even
suggested the challenge tests too after, but luckily i found this site
or Andy cutler.

I would like to know if there is others like me who are
going thru the same thing and are being treated just plain ignorately
like me and being judged .
Any suggestions from anyone would be
great,thanks god bless......
ps where to find that recipe for brain fog

Maybe you have kept us up to date, but I must have missed your post.
It's been about two months, and I was wondering what decision you came to

Any feedback?

===================Andrew, have you looked at all the options for you, for
adrenal support?
This is a very comprehensive Adrenal Restoration plan. Maybe you've already
started. Wish to share with us?

==================== I trust you are feeling better and chelating again?

> When you say having your RCT out was the best decision you made...can
> you tell me what the experience was like?
=====================I have a severe dental phobia , thus, to tell you the
truth: the experience was awful.
But I think for anyone to loose five teeth and have the cavitations cleaned
can be stressful.
It wasn't an easy decision to make in the first place. Quite frankly it was
a shock to hear I might have to loose 5 teeth. I resisted fiercely. But the
sicker I became without knowing what's wrong, it became easier to make that
decision. I was running out of answers and the rootcanals were low on my
list untill it was one of the last few things left. If I knew then what I
know now, rootcanals would have been the first to go, no sweat.

I mean did you go from feeling toxic/off colour to feeling a real lift in
your sense of well being?
====================Had my first rootcanal at age 11 (now 47) Since
childhood I always said I feel poisoned eventhough I have always been
extremely healthy, never been to a doctor, never took pharma meds ever, no
anti biotics, etc , etc . One day out of the blue Sept 2004 I crashed, from
out of nowhere. The poisoning caught up with me overnight. Over time my face
had a grey color to it, my neck got brown patches and pink, red and purple
patches, energy low and after the crash it was down hill untill early this
year only when I started feeling fairly OK again. However, thru all this,
the two biggest turning points that stood out for me was, one, when I
removed my toxic rootcanals , and the second, when I started chelating. The
difference from now compared to then is huge. No comparison.

How have you made that assessment? What did you have your 5 teeth replaced
with?
=====================I think the biggest reason for me resisting taking my
RC out , was because I didn't know what to replace it with and I was
convinced I'll be nauseas with something constantly in my mouth. My gag flex
is bad, too. The risk taking the RC's out and not be able to tolerate a
plate in my mouth and all the social stigma, intimacy, etc ,etc, it wasn't
easy. I was so so lucky . The plate fits like a glove and it has been no
hassle what so ever. I had an acrylic plate first and now soon a Flexite
denture(plate). I'm feeling so much better, I cannot begin to tell you.

and then give it back to your dentist.

KAI ~ Thank you SO much for the generous reply! It is exactly what I

Your symptoms DO sound a lot like adrenal problems to me.

Internal shaking and weird neck and shoulder pain were big ones for me
before starting on cortisol.

Go back and read through Kai's response to my initial post - you'll
find it at the bottom of this screen if you scroll all the way down.
Check out all of the links and suggestions. I know how daunting it is
w/ this brain fog!!!! And NO YOU ARE NOT the only one who has dealt w
unsympathetic and ill-informed doctors!
We're on our own, but fortunately, we live in the electronic age where
we can reach out and find help getting answers. Good luck!

I encourage you to read the adrenal symptoms at the site below and
then to check out what else they have to say about thyroid testing and
why there's a very good chance that you may not have had accurate
testing done.

Good luck.
Thanks again Kai!

I am new to this group and new to the mercury issue.  I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 12 years ago and only recently learned the root cause.  I found a mercury free dentist who is very involved with the IAOMT (one of founding members).  At my initial consult, he gave me two books to read, "Dentistry Without Mercury" and "Dental Mercury Detox" (both by Sam and Michael Ziff and the detox book by Mats Hanson as well).  I was finding mixed information on what supplementation to take before, during and after dental revision and that these books from my dentist would surely be good resources.

The detox book lists 20 different supplements to take BEFORE amalgam removal and one of them is ALA (recommendation is 100 mg/day).  Of course, I have now learned from AI that ALA should never be taken with amalgams and in fact not until they are out for at least 3 months.  Additionally, I see that the dosage I took was way too high.  I only took 2 doses before realizing this but now have complete (and it feels like thickening) numbness up to my waist.  Am I crazy to believe that 2-100mg doses could cause exacerbation of symptoms to this extent?  I have had my first quadrant of fillings removed which may be further exposing me but the problem clearly started before removal and concurrent with the 2 doses of ALA.  The only other time I had this degree of numbness was when I was first diagnosed with MS and I took high dose IV steroids which did ultimately relieve that and other symptoms (for the time anyway).  My question is, has anyone else experienced something like this from ALA and are there any suggestions as to how to handle it?  I know that I cannot begin chelating until the amalgams are out in 3 weeks or so, but the numbness is not just uncomfortable, it is painful.  I am starting to have panic attacks as well and have not had these for 2 years.  I was prepared for a long road to recovery and that things were going to get worse before they could possibly get better, but I did not expect to fall apart before the dental revision.  Any help and encouragement is really appreciated as you all know how scared and alone you can feel through this .

Check the files and links and Onibasu. This topic has been discussed and
maybe you'll find more relevant info to you.
Sorry, of course that is over at FDC (Frequent DoseChelation)
Epsom Salt is Magnesium Sulphate, which is different from sulphur and has
more effect on your liver pathways, or not.
Others on the list can describe it in full.Anybody?

DD, first I had the RC at 1:1 extracted and had 2:1 made into a stump to
enable me to put a cantelever on (I didn't want to cross the midline and
restrict my cranio rythm)
Later I had more RC's extracted from my top teeth, removed the cantelever
and replaced all with a plate (partial)

Livingnetwork.co.za has got a huge amount of information regarding all this.
I followed all my dentalwork according to this advice and am grateful for
that site and all the generous information.
Have a look for safe dental supplies and suppliers, dential partials,

I am new to this group and new to the mercury issue.
=============Welcome Christene

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 12 years ago and only recently learned the root cause.
==============For you, what is your root cause would you say?

I found a mercury free dentist who is very involved with the IAOMT (one of founding members).  At my initial consult, he gave me two books to read, "Dentistry Without Mercury" and "Dental Mercury Detox" (both by Sam and Michael Ziff and the detox book by Mats Hanson as well).  I was finding mixed information on what supplementation to take before, during and after dental revision and that these books from my dentist would surely be good resources.
============My first question to any dentist is, do you do rootcanals?
If his/her answer is Yes, I move on happily. No debate.
The detox book lists 20 different supplements to take BEFORE amalgam removal and one of them is ALA (recommendation is 100 mg/day).  Of course, I have now learned from AI that ALA should never be taken with amalgams and in fact not until they are out for at least 3 months.
===============I'm so glad to take it that you'd rather follow Andy's advice, than these "good resources". Luckily soon enough. And you are right about all of it. No ALA while you still have metal and yes, only 3 mnths after your last exposure to mercury you can take low-frequent-doses of ALA> And yes, Andy has since seen that people do way better starting with low doses rather than 100mg, which is for most people way tooo high.

Additionally, I see that the dosage I took was way too high.  I only took 2 doses before realizing this but now have complete (and it feels like thickening) numbness up to my waist.  Am I crazy to believe that 2-100mg doses could cause exacerbation of symptoms to this extent?
===============No Christene, you are definitely not crazy, and yes 2-100mg doses could cause exacerbation of symptoms to this extent.

My question is, has anyone else experienced something like this from ALA
===============This is not uncommon and the archives of FDC you'll find many such testaments.

and are there any suggestions as to how to handle it?
===============Best for you is to wait it out, are your adrenals OK , best you start adding one by one the supp's that Andy recommends and start supporting your body. Important especially for you now is heaps of Vit C and Vit E and of course Omega 3 oil. Can you share with us in detail all your different symptoms so that the group can respond to the different remedies or help you can use, if you don't mind ?

I know that I cannot begin chelating until the amalgams are out in 3 weeks or so, but the numbness is not just uncomfortable, it is painful.  I am starting to have panic attacks as well and have not had these for 2 years.
================Look here what you can do in the interim for your panic and anxiety Christene

I was prepared for a long road to recovery and that things were going to get worse before they could possibly get better, but I did not expect to fall apart before the dental revision.  Any help and encouragement is really appreciated as you all know how scared and alone you can feel through this .
==============I'm so glad for your sake that you discovered Andy Cutler's work before you went down that path too far off.
Many on this list and FDC knows what you are going thru and we all know also you will get better eventually, even if it takes time. You can know that there is hope.
All the best wishes to you through a trying time like this.

Kai,

Thanks for asking.  And I'm sorry I didn't update.  I ended up having the ped dentist do the pulpotomy.  I didn't like my bio dentist's method of pulpotomies (he uses endocal which stays in the tooth permanently).  So after the ped dentist drilled out the decay, he inserted a formocresol-soaked cotton pellet (the fumes from that create a seal on the surface of the drilled-space).  He left that in for a few seconds, took it out, then put in dry cotton pellet(s) (to keep the temp filling away from the treated area to let it heal).  So my boy left the office with a temp filling, went back 3 weeks later for the permanent, which is a composite (the cotton pellet was removed).  The dentist said there was plenty of tooth structure left after the drilling to be able to support a composite.  So we didn't have to mess with a metal crown.  I told him "no nickel" anyway.  The tooth is alive.  I was not thrilled about the substance (formocresol) being put in his pulp chamber for a few seconds, but I'm glad he doesn't have endocal in him.

I know that some of you took the time to give me advice about this....and I appreciated that soooooooo much!!!  So I apologize again for not updating.  And I took into consideration every piece of advice you offered (and it made the decision extra difficult!!  :)

Thank you,
Elizabeth

Hi Christine,
Panic attacks are almost always adrenal related.
Here is some more info on adrenals:

Make sure this is your first point of call, and if you are desperate and can't do a cortisol saliva test, then trial some Adrenal Extract.

Not at all a problem with sulphur.
Epsom salts is SULPHATE and is very different.
It will not mobilise metals.
If you are low sulphate you need Epsom salts.
Don't worry at all about it.
See a post from Andy here to explain the differnce:
http://www.livingnetwork.co.za/healingnetwork/thiols_cysteine_sulfur.html

All it tells you is that you are low SULFATE, but tells you nothing about
SULPHUR - only a SULPHUR exclusion diet tells you that.

Hi DD
Not really, helping your thyroid should support you during detox.
Check with the FDC list for more info.

Don't use bentonite clay, just chelate properly as per Andy's guidlines.

seems like they are blurry but not blurry, its almost like i feel that
i took something bad and got a bad reaction, but this is everyday for 2
1/2 years.I also have the belching bad too.I did a candida cleanse for
almost 3 months, bentonite clay, capreol oil, and physillium husks and
took this drink 2 times a day for 6 weeks,it cleared up that belching
and phlem.i took acididophus and lots of good vit/mineral stuff along
with the diet but i did notice that pulsating shaky feel seemed to get
worse in some cases...for example...sometimes when i get up or
standing my body would go one way but feel this unbalance problem and
i still have this, very weird, its like my body going one way but my
brain taking a second longer to catch up so it causes a unbalance
problem,i dont fall down or anything but its very disturbing. Can this
be also a problem with adrenal glands, thyroid or even B12 or
mercury?Thanks god bless

10 months ago I had all my amalgams out and my teeth are still
sensitive. Was wondering if the composites used may be toxic or maybe
I'm having a reaction to them. Do dentists have MSDS sheets on their
products?

I checked Deans network http://www.livingnetwork.co.za/dentalnetwork/
and it lists companies that are safe but not the stuff IN the safe
products. I want to ask dentist for the products he used and look up
to see if toxic. Has anyone done this? Is there a list of dental
products that are known to be toxic that I can compare his stuff too?

Hope this makes sense.

My neighbor's regular suburban dentist replaced a composite filling that was
sensitive
due to incompatibility, his diagnosis, not hers. He said he had seen it happen
about once
a year, no doubt it happens more often but the dentists aren't necessarily
getting
feedback.

My fillings were sensitive for about 3 months after which they settled down, I
don't think
10 months is an acceptable time frame. Maybe it was the dentists technique.

Any responsible dentist will have MSDS on file, although some can get defensive.

If the tooth "needs" root canal therapy, it means either the root is
dead or dying. Or the decay is too close to the nerve to dig it out
and place a filling. You're looking at extraction of the tooth, and
possibly a bridge. Andy Cutler recommends against implants.

As I posted on AMC, you might just need a bite adjustment.  You may have some high spots on the new fillings that need to be shaved down.  If you haven't done this yet, I would have your dentist check this first.  Some people have a more precise bite than others, and will require more fine tuning than others.  All you do is grind your teeth with some paper thin material between them (forget what its called), and this marks the high spots, and he grinds them down a little.  It might take more than one trip to get it right.--------Jackie
