as mine. :)
I am also in Florida, in the part of the state that usually gets chopped off the
map - Pensacola.
Just a couple of quick comments. All my color is pretty much cut off now, and I
am natural. I did go shorter during the process, but I have never been
comfortable with wearing short hair, so I went with mid length layered cut. I
had colored for about 10 years. When I started I really didnt have any gray,
just wanted to do something different. Over the years my hair got lighter and
lighter. :) So when I quit coloring I not only didnt know if I had much if any
gray I also had all but forgotten what my natural color was! So it has been an
interesting journey. Turns out my hair is a lot darker than I thought it was
and I just have sprinkling of silver, not a dramatic gray look.
Like many others here, I went "cold turkey", and although there were a few
periods where I really hated my hair, overall it wasnt nearly as bad as you
might think. And looking back, I would say it's been one of the best things
I've done in years and I am happier with my hair than I have ever been. Of
course in many ways I am far more comfortable with who I am than I have ever
been and that may be a natural part of being a lady of a "certain age", (which
many of us are who are making this transition.)
So to you Wende, and the the others who are just starting this journey, be
encouraged and enjoy the process. I think most of us who have been through it
have found it very worthwhile and are happy we did it.
