My latest conversation on the other board... Wanted to copy the comments here before they erased it...

Person to remain namelessBased on the amount of 'traffic' here now, things are much different than when you accomplished your goal a year ago. You and your friends 'talked' amongst yourselves, which made it appear that there was more activity on the board. Since you've all abdicated, this site really isn't used much and probably will be absorbed into a more general disability forum.

My response: Let me make a clarification on your last post.

I have NOT abdicated.  Abdication would mean that I have left and not returned.  I've been posting, so "abdicated" would not describe my involvement here.  I check this board every day that I am in town (I travel for work).  I have been "quiet" as of late because, at least twice, when I responded in a thread, I was given the "well, you aren't hard-of-hearing, so you don't really understand" treatment.  Therefore, on threads that were about certain situations, I have not commented, as to not insert my opinions or ideas where they are not wanted.  When there is a thread or comment to which I feel comfortable responding, I do.

Also, others, including one of the founders of this board, are unable to log in or even find the board at times.  I don't know what their tech issues are and I cannot speak for the ones who have chosen not to be so active as of late.  I just know that some either cannot sign in or cannot find the board at all.

This was never meant to be an "old guard" versus "new guard" situation.  I'm sorry that it has happened because, as I've said in the past, I do believe that there is great value in a disability-specific board.

Takes two to tango, and if one doesn't want to dance no sense whirling across the room."

I like her comment that you and your "friends" talked among themselves and essentially "faked" activity on the iVillage board. Rememebr when we first started...

Tina, I think you're right---maybe sentiment is why we keep checking back. I went back over there this morning after reading Dawn's message here. Honestly, I...
