Hi,
Do we have any veterinarians on this weblist? Or is there a way to contact
Dr Wallach? My daughter has a beautiful black German Shepard, 4 years old,
80 lbs, who has been diagnosed with the auto immune disease "pemphigus". It
seems to be mild so far, and from a few itchy sores several places is now
only grey scaly skin over the nose. She's been on steroids, and twice they
have tried to reduce the steroids, and it got worse. I have a terrible
disease called osteonecrosis, a rare adverse reaction to prednisone, so
keeping her on steroids is just about the worst I can think of. I am an
American Longevity distributor, and of course would suggest the basic
vitamin and mineral supplement for a human, but don't know if it is the same
for a dog. I had them change her grocery store bagged dogfood to Science
Diet for Sensitive Skin, and additional fishoil of 1000 mg over food each
day, and because I also work with essential oils, diluted therapeutic grade
lavender essential oil on a spot on her nose to see if it heals. Usually
MSM is also recommended for auto immune, but do not have any in a powdered
form. Basic cause could be so many things. It is possible the dog is
stressed over new twin babies born in June, but they also live outside St
Louis on 4 acres, and recently a whole new bunch of houses have built up
around them, and wonder if it isn't something someone has sprayed on their
yards and has drifted into the dog. Does anyone have any other ideas? Is
it possible to add the majestic vitamins and minerals to dry dog food, and
it stay edible to the dog? Any ideas would be so very welcome. There just
is not much information on the internet about this disease.
Thank you,
Nancy M
