Re: Gout

Here is and excerpt from Dr. Wallach's book Dead Doctors Dont Lie.

GOUT (gouty arthritis) is caused by deposits of uric acid crystals in
the joints and surrounding tissues. These joints, classically the
great toe of each foot, are very tender and may become deformed in
chronic or long-standing cases. Kidney disease and uric acid kidney
stones may develop in chronic untreated cases. Elevated uric acid in
the blood (above 7 mg/ml of serum) along with sudden onset of tender
gouty joints is a red flag for gout.

Treatment for gout should include an avoidance of alcohol, organ
meats, seafood, lentils, beans, peas, and fructose sources. Use folic
acid at 20-50 mg/day, cherries, and unsweetened cherry juice, and
herbs including gout weed (Aegopodium podagraria) and meadow saffron
(Colchicium autumnal). The orthodox doctors use colchicine almost
exclusively as the treatment of choice, but add prednisone for
inflammation.
