International Medical Graduates (IMG) Governing Council Resident Representative

The Resident and Fellow Section (RFS) is seeking candidates to fill a vacant resident representative position on the IMG Section Governing Council. The term will end in June 2008. You will be eligible to run for another term if desired. The IMG Section represents and advocates for IMGs within the AMA. Residents and fellows who are IMGs may apply for this position. Candidates must submit an application, and a current CV. Endorsements and/or letters of support from medical associations are optional. IMG Responsibilities and Guidelines:
- Must be a current member of the AMA.
- Must have interest in helping the AMA to achieve the IMG goals and objectives, and demonstrate experience in related activities.
- Must attend the 4 IMG Governing Council meetings which serve as the platform for setting IMG direction and activities. These meetings are held each year at the (1) June AMA Annual Meeting (Chicago), (2) November AMA Interim Meeting (various locations) and (3) in conjunction with the AMA National Advocacy Conference in February ( Washington , DC ). A fourth (4) meeting is held in August. Attendance is also required on occasional conference calls.(Note: Governing Council members are reimbursed by the AMA for all travel expenses related to attending these meetings.)
- Must be able to carry out responsibilities as agreed to by the Council, including, but not limited to, presenting periodic reports on IMG activities and participating in other IMG programs and activities, as needed.
