Hi everybody,   I am thrilled to announce that we have been able to set up a journal club for the residents.  It is set for this Monday, September 29th at 6:30 pm at Brasserie Beck (fabulous Belgian restaurant with rave reviews from the Washington Post, Food and Wine, and the Washingtonian) .    The topic will be on transcultural psychiatry, specifically focusing on Africa.  Right now, the plan is to have it on yoga for trauma recovery.  A friend of mine formed an NGO that trains yoga teachers in Rwanda, and encourages using methods like meditation and mindfulness to deal with the aftermath of the trauma of genocide.  If for some reason that falls through, I'll bring my mom back to update you guys on the traditional healers she works with in Niger.  In any case, there will be free food and drink, as well as valet parking.
