Host your own men's health community consultation forum

Men speaking at forumThe Australasian Men's Health Forum (AMHF) has prepared an excellent Men's Health Policy Community Consultation Promotion and Facilitation Guide and sample PowerPoint Presentation for any community group who may wish to hold their own forum.

There are two ways in which such a forum could be run. The first, and preferable way, would be to host your forum as an independent event which could feed back its outcomes to the Department of Health & Ageing. Anyone is free to put on such a forum, and we would strongly encourage as many people as possible to do so, especially those in rural and remote areas.

For communities who don't feel they have the capacity to run their own event, it is possible to request that your forum become part of the Department of Health & Ageing's series of 'official' forums (such as the three listed above), facilitated by the Hay Group. Anyone wishing to put on such a forum in their local community should contact the Hay Group atmens_health_australia@..., who will then seek the approval of the Department and/or the Minister's Office.

Greg Millan, a Men's Health Consultant and member of the AMHF Executive, has offered his services at no cost if you wish to discuss your needs around holding your own Forum. He can be contacted at gmillan@... or on 0417 772 390.
