My 7 yr old daughter , Sarah has had CVS since she was 6 mo's old , every 5
weeks like clockwork....vomiting 40 to 50 times a day prior to Zofran which cuts
it to about 10 to 15 ....she also now takes Ativan during an episode which just
knocks her out so she doesnt have to deal with it , also helps a little with the
vomiting....she also wakes up okay but does have some residual dizziness for a
day ....she gets symptoms of dizzy espisodes during it ( does anyone else have
this?) ......anyway I was worried about her throat for irritation from all of
that bile ( where does all of that vomiting keep coming from in those little
bodies?) so we had a endoscopic procedure done ( she had been doing excessive
throat clearing on and off ) but there was no damage , thank god .....her teeth
seem to be okay , although have whitish spots on them......I wouldnt worry about
having them rinse during it , they are so non functional , why add yet another
thing to their misery??? Just deal with it
afterwards.....it isnt every day afterall.......Sarah will take sips of water
during it , not that she can keep it down but she wants it.......okay ....good
luck....

I just had a question, what do others on this list think about the
excessive vomiting and teeth issues? I am getting increasingly
concerned about my 5yr old daughter's teeth deteriorating in relation
to the excessive vomiting. She vomits lots of bile, and I am
concerned it is eroding her teeth. My sister had a lot of vomiting
in her childhood, and has terrible teeth problems that the dentists
call "bulimics teeth", because it is what bulimics often have
problems with from so much vomiting.
Anyway, I am going to try to get my daughter (5yrs) to rinse her
mouth out after every vomit next time, but I think that will be hard
considering how many times she vomits, and her unresponsiveness when
she does.
