I can't tell you how delighted I am to find this group. I am in my
late fourty's and have had CVS for approx. 27 years. In my eary 20's
when this started, I did go to the Dr's, had all the blood work,
upper GI's, Xrays, they found nothing wrong. . . . I went to the
hospital for the first few episodes, because I thought I was dieing
but when I realized that I would live through it, I was just more
comfortable to be sick at home. Hospitals don't really deal well with
people who are throwing up. Giving us that little curved shaped
dish. . please.
I just learned to live with it, I blamed it on food allergies,
something I drank, Stomach Flu, . . . . but deep down I always
thought something was not right, because I got it so often, about 8
to 12 times a years for me, and I'd be so-o-o-o sick.
This April my son came home from college very sick with strep throut
and I caught it. (I told him drinking out of the milk cartons and
water pitcher is not a good thing.)I did three rounds of Antibiotics
to get better, and now my doctor wants to take out my tonsils. After
each round of Antibiotic, I'd get my "stomach flu". So I got on the
web one day and started doing some research on antibiotics, strep,
tonsils and vomiting.
AND OH MY GOD. . .I found CVS. Everthing I read is exactly what I
have been suffering all these years. Someone on this site wrote "It's
very liberating once you realize you are not alone in your struggle."
I could not of said it better myself. I called my mother, my kids,
and they were thrilled for me. This syndrome was very hard on me but
it is also very hard on your loved ones. And the real problem is that
once it's over you feel better, and have no symptoms. It's here and
it's gone. So doctors don't really want to deal with it.
I did a follow up visit with my doctor on the strep and took all the
info I could on CVS, she's heard of if but not sure what the next
step should be for me. I'm sure she just doesn't have the time to
research a problem that is so rare, and would like me to do the
research and find a specialist that is required to get some help.
This is where I need some help from all of you.
Can anybody recommend a Dr. in the Detroit Metro area?
If not what kind of Dr.(specialist) would be best to help?
Neurologist? Internest?
I've taken notes on Meds, joined CVSA, can you recommed anything else?
Thank you all very much for sharing.
