Re: [Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome] Digest Number 33

Sarah-

My son has been suffering with this for years and it is a terrible thing but
definately survivable. My husband and I are taking a different approach than what
the dr's have suggested. We decided to forego the traditional treatment of a
whole bunch of medications with no guarantees on any of them. We met with a
biochemist who specializes in natural vitamins that encourage cell regeneration
and are also working with a therapist who does Cranial Sacral massage which has
a 90% success rate with migraines (since this disease is a migraine variant we
thought it was worth a shot) and we've taken all preservatives and hormones out
of our diet.

We are currently 1 week past due for an episode and are hoping to keep it that
way. He still meets with the Dr's who keep a close eye on him BUT we didn't want
to take an otherwise normal 6 yr old and subject him to having to medicate daily
before at least trying an alternative first. Good luck and if you need support I
am here.

Hello all,
Sorry my last message was blank don't know what happened
there. Anyway I'm 18 living in the UK and have just been recognized
with having CVS the British doctors know basically nothing about CVS
which is more frustrating, though after nearly 4 years of being
misdiagnosed and going through medication after medication and test
after test it a relief to know there's a name for my illness and
it's not just all in my head.

When a attack comes on I can normally feel a wave of nausea come
over me, and I'm dying for the toilet, and within 5 minutes I'm
vomiting continually for 1-6 days and the salvia that comes up is
never ending and I have fever symptoms and feel so ill I think I'm
going to die, these bouts come every month or so sometimes they come
on because it's time for another one, or another main trigger is
stress which is pretty hard to avoid.

CVS is controlling my life I live in fear of another attack coming
on I had to give up college and work due to missing so much time and
now living on disability. My social life is becoming non existent. I
don't know where to go from here? As anyone over come these bouts
successfully?
