Re: [Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome] Happy Mothers Day!!

Hi Kerri,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Well,I haven't done to much research into Abdominal Migraines, but the info I
have does nothing but confuse me more.
At the end of this,I'll put it out to everyone else on the list-serve.

Before Patrick was in the hospital in March, the vomits were happening every
12-14 days like clock work, moving up to the vomiting for 24 hours, then his doc.
put him on Periactin for 6 weeks, then of the medicine since April 15,no
vomiting at all,since March.

Patrick has been in Pre-kindergarten since Feb. and he has missed approx. 21
days here and there.I stick pretty close to him.I'm on the computer in his
school's library.I was nervous about the school thing, and thought of
withdrawing him in March, but decided to stick to the routine.I noticed that
helps him.

*Question for the day*
What is the difference between Abdominal MIgraines and CVS?

Hi Wanda!
Thanks :) I appreciate it.
Sounds like your little one has had a rough time of it.
Gallstones..wow...poor guy :(
I'm very thankful that Malcolm hasn't started vomitting for that long...his
episodes don't last much longer than an hour or so right now. How often does
Patrick get them? Have they grown more harsh/longer/closer together since he
was younger? Do you worry about him going to school this September? (if he is
going)
Here's a question for you....what is the difference between abdominal
migraines and cvs? I'm a little confused on that one. I read one place that
they were the same, then another that said they were totally different?
I thought cvs was like abdominal migraines, but with a 'cycle' to it. Is that
right?
I know what you mean, it's so nice to have an answer...here i thought all
along it was a 'symptom' for something else, little did i know this is actually
something all on it's own.

Hi Kerri,My name is Wanda,I am the single parent of a 4 year old,who name is
Patrick, and we live in Saskatoon,SK. I am a stay at home mom also.I was reading
your story, and my son started vomting at 18 months old also. After many hospital
visits, and an operation to remove his gallbladder and zapping his many
gallstones.(this past Dec.2002) After a diagnosis of Abdominal Migraines,because
he would vomit and fall fast asleep, and sleep for ever after. The vomiting be
came extremely bad.On March 4th, he started vomiting and proceeded to vomit for
24 hours. His gastro. spec. then said it was CVS.So here we are, with a defintive
diaagnosis. And it is blessing to know finally what is going on with my son.I
still have moments of panic, thinking that tonight is the night. His doc gave
me a letter, stating what he has, and how to treat it.So, when I take my son to
the E.R.I hopefully won't run in to many problems the next time we go.Feel free
to ask me questions also. Wanda,Patrick's mom

I hope everyone has a great mother's day.
Finding these groups and an answer is the best mothers day present for me!
I'll start by introducing myself...Just joined this group, I am a married, 27
yr old stay at home mom of two small boys, who lives in Ontario, Canada. I
enjoy many many things in life, but knitting is my main passion right now. My
son Malcolm, who'll be four in a month, since he was 18 months old had
unexplainable vomiting bouts once a month. It was very sudden then and then
he'd sleep afterwards. Then a while later it was once every three weeks, and now
it's been every two weeks for the last three months, with it being more violent
and painful for him now.
He also has diahrea pretty much every day also. I've been to numerous dr's
with him and got the "he looks really healthy, so what's your problem??" And
one "he'll grow out of it" (all of these dr's only were talking about the
diahrea, none talked about the vomiting). Well I finally had enough and was
able to find a dr around here (very hard to find one here!) and he is sending
him for a stomach ultrasound. He doesn't think anything will show up, and
mentioned looking up on the net on migraines. (My husband and my father both
get them from time to time.)
Anyway, that's when i happened on CVS and I am so happy. I am positive this
is it, it explains the one question i always had (Why are they so patterned if
it was nothing big??) never made sense.
I am really worried about how close they are going to get together before they
stay at that "pattern". I feel so horrible for him, but I am so glad to know
there are others going through the same thing. I would love to hear other
stories...I still have many questions about this as i just figured it out
recently. Hope to hear from you all.
Kerri
