Re: [Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome] Re: pot smoking and CVS n the hot baths n showers

I just wanted to mention that my understanding is that the hot showers is common
to many CVSers, not exclusively related to pot smoking....

Hi! Thank you so much for your in-depth posting. Although my son smokes at
least a couple times each day he has never felt the urge or need to take a
hot shower, bath or sit in the hot tub. If I could find just one person who
was getting sick from pot smoking but did not do the shower thing I could
tell him that not everyone does. I hear what you're saying about the
anxiety. I think he feels more anxiety now because of the pot but he keeps
telling me that pot takes away the anxiety. Of course it does. . . until
he's gone without it for a day.

He was terribly sick last week. His episode lasted 18 hours but was very
intense and we were sure we were going to have to take him to ER.
Fortunately it ended as suddenly as it began and, other than having sore
stomach muscles from heaving, he felt good after. But he's been nauseous
off and on since then. I hope you're right, I hope he sees the light one of
these days and at least tries going w/out pot because he's so tired of being
sick all the time.

I called Cedar Sinai and we have an appointment with Dr. Feldman on June 7.
Hopefully he'll have some ideas and also be able to give us advice on SSD.

Again, thanks for all the responses to my queries. I really appreciate you
all.

Linda

hi linda.when i am experiencing an episode all that would relieve the nausea
was a really long scalding hot shower and many of them. most of the time i
wished i could just live in the hot water. he's lucky he has a hot tub. you
are right. it's just so hard for a smoker to believe because the pot does
make you feel better. it took many years of daily smoking for me to realize.
the last straw was my specialists really getting into my head that it's bad
for me. i've had many docs and my chiropractor and naturpath tell me it was
poison to me. but it was an addiction and i felt it really made me feel
better. it's almost been 3 weeks since i quit. i now have the flu (3rd day)
feelin better though. it was really hard not to smoke to take away the
nausea from it. but if i would have i would have been starting all over
again. also a side effect of pot is anxiety. not having it. it not being
good enough (potency.). it's really hard to tell a habitual smoker to stop.
took me six years. i got real sick when i gave birth to my son(he's now 6)i
was relly sick during pregnancy severe hyperemesis gravidrum and
hospitalized for a large part of my pregnancy. the meds don't help
either.i've tried them all. driven many docs crazy. i would suggest stop
filling the meds and stop the smoking if you can and to workout... easier
said than done trust me i know. my docs say i have a severe case. coming
from a family of smokers where it's accepted and living in a mm card holding
state makes it really hard. plus it's seen as cool too. ya fit in with all
your friends. so much pressure when your young and you want to escape in
your head and not feel. it might take a while linda but if he keeps getting
sick like i did for years and just kept smoking he will eventually get it.
but you are the parent if you think it's poisoning your baby in your heart
you know what to do. wish i could tell him all the hardships caused by it
myself. it really held me back in so many ways. just let him know that there
are others out there just like him and we are here to help. ask me any
questions ya want i am here for ya. wishing him a episode free month!--- In
