Re: [Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome] Re: Intro and Question

I'm not sure that this was sent to the person you intended it to be sent to.  I
am Amy and I have recently joined the Yahoo group.  My husband is the CVSer and
has recieved his diagnosis from Dr. McCallum at KUMC.

Just thought you might want to recheck who this email was intended for.  Thanks.

Amy

Debi -

I am so glad you found us. I hope we can be of help to you!

We were able to get a correct diagnosis for my two children through a
GI who treated CVS. Basically all tests are run to make sure it
isn't anything else. Once everything else has been ruled out, you
are then given the CVS diagnosis. The CVS website would be the first
place to start to see if there is a GI in your area. If there isn't,
I would call and make an appointment for a FREE consultation. During
the consultation, you can ask if the Dr. if familiar with and has
treated CVS.

It seems like everyone here has a different medication treatment to
get these episodes under control. The basic philosophy is to keep
you asleep until the cycle breaks. While you are alseep, someone
should be making sure you are hydrated (if tollerated) and are able
to go to the bathroom when needed. Hydration during the episodes is
the monster to combat. If you are dehydrated, it will make the
episodes worse and you would need to go to the ER to get IV fluids.
The ER info. should be on the CVS website.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please ask!!
