Holly -
Welcome to the group. I am so glad you found us. Living with CVS
can be a nightmare for many. It is immportant to find others who
understand and can support you. Don't hesitate to jump in and ask
questions!
I have two children with CVS and both present VERY differently. It
has been over a year since my daughter had her last full episode.
She has had the beginnings of 4 episodes but we have been able to
stop them! My son had his last major episode in Dec. 2007. He has
had two episodes start but we were able to avoid them with plenty of
meds. and fluids at home. For some reaon Gatorade has greatly
decreased the severity of the episodes for both of my children.
Weird and wild but true.
Many Dr.'s don't believe CVS even exists so I am quite surprised and
thankful you were diagnosed. Sounds like you need a new GI, though.
You need someone who is going to listen to you. You know your body
best and what can help you. You are your best advocate! If you have
a family member or a friend who can be an advocate for you during the
episodes and in dealing with Dr.'s, that would be incredibly helpful
for you.
Do you know yet what your triggers are?
My daughter does not have any triggers. We have no clue. She will
wake up around 4am or 7am and start vomiting. No warning.
My son has MANY triggers so life for me watching him is a balancing
act. Here are his triggers...
Lack of sleep
Illness
Dehydration
Exercise
Getting too hot
Rough housing
Acid Reflux
Migraine
I am sure I missed something in there but I think you get the idea.
