Re: [Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome] Hi - New Mum

Thanks for that Mimi. Yes it is difficult because everyone is different in
their experiences. I guess like today, I didn't know whether to send my
daughter to school or not. She had a bad episode at 3am on Wednesday morning,
stayed home all day, her last vomit was at 9.15am, so she had the whole day and
night to recover. She did have a sightly wrestless night, and woke up
reasonably content, just quiet and tired. I didn't know whether to send her to
school or not. I didn't know if she was just tired, or if she still had a
headache or was dizzy etc. So thanks for the input!

I can only share my son's experience (or his behavior I guess)- because so much
with CVS seems to vary so much from individual to individual-- but my son's
episodes usually last 3-5 days- the last day he throws up in the morning only
then the rest of the day I call his "recovery day"- where he is not himself/low
energy/somewhat dizzy- until the evening when he seems like himself again.. good
luck, Mimi

Hi everyone,
I have a 6 year old daughter who was initially diagnosed with CVS when she was
3. My
biggest question is can anyone tell me how they feel or how their loved ones
feel after an
episode? My daughter has severe developmental delays and therefore cannot tell
me how
she is feeling. During a severe episode, we give her an Ondansetron wafer which
usually
subsides the vomiting within 1-2 hours. After this she can sleep for several
hours and then
wake up really quiet and "flat". We believe that most of her episodes are
accompanied with
abdominal migraine. I would really like to know what are the "after" feelings of
an episode.
How long does the headache/stomach ache last for? Is it like having a "heavy
head" after a
bad headache/migraine.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou.
Coby.
