Ann,
We have been homeschooling 11 years now. Our oldest, age 16, has
CVS. It is undoubtedly the best thing for her. I don't know where
you live, but there are plenty of homeschool groups across the U.S.
I know lots of people worry about socialization, but we have found
that to be the least of our problems. We actually have to be
careful not to get so busy with social activities we can't get
school done. I would encourage you to find some homeschool groups
in your area and check them out. I think you'll be surprised at how
much less stress there is in your life when you homeschool. I am on
the board of a homeschool group and would be glad to help you
contact someone in your area.
Our daughter always has to be hospitalized when she starts
vomiting. We have found that it actually decreases how long she is
sick (and the severity of it) and increases the time between
episodes. Are you familiar with Dr. Fleisher in Columbia, MO at the
University of Missouri? He is the best! Our daughter's health has
improved dramatically since he has been treating her.
Talking to people on this forum will help you to cope, it is very
stressful as a parent to watch your child be so ill. I think its
even more frustrating when you go so long between episodes to have
them return with a vengeance. Just about the time you stop thinking
about it and think that it may actually be getting better, it seems
like that's when it rears its ugly head again.
Hang in there, you are not alone. Let me know if I can help with
anything.
Mary
