Global Council Meeting at Bard College, New York   Message List

Hi, Tribemates,

I think it's great that everyone is talking about the June conference
in New York!

I believe that this event is the next grandest version of the
greatest vision ever we held about what Humanity's Team really is and
what it is choosing to be.

I believe that the next grandest version is for Humanity's Team to
speak to the world, not just to ourselves; to make a mark among the
mainstream in society, not just among the "spiritually aware." I
believe we're here to help people who'd never heard of Humanity's
Team
or the New Spirituality to heal themselves and the world with
emancipating new understandings of God, life and each other.

What I find remarkable and wonderful is that this vision is being
embraced and endorsed not just by me alone, or a few of us, or even a
lot of us in the movement. It is also being embraced by one of the
world's leading theological institutes. The Institute of Advanced
Theology at Bard College, in February 2004, embraced and endorsed
this
vision and the mission of Humanity's Team so much that it agreed to
put its name on the banner alongside the name of Humanity's Team --
something that has never been done before -- and agreed to
co-sponsor the Gathering with us.

Then, within months, we started receiving similar endorsements, from
religious and spiritual leaders -- including a colleague of the late
civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
(www.morehouse.edu/aboutmc/chapel/deancarter.html), who wanted to
join
the civil rights movement for the soul, and a 93-year-old Native
American Algonquin Elder (www.circleofallnations.com), who said it's
time to "come together with one heart, one mind, one love" -- as well
as academic scholars, one of the world's foremost quantum physicists,
policy makers -- even the visionary artist Alex Grey
(www.alexgrey.com), who rarely makes public appearances. All of them
-- more than two dozen in all -- were so impressed with the
Humanity's
Team vision and the Humanity's Team conference that they said they
said they had to be there with us! So they are joining us in
celebrating the oneness of humanity and the interconnectedness of all
life!

As word spread, even a part of the United Nations asked if it could
participate! The Spiritual Caucus of the U.N.
(www.spiritualcaucus-un.org) said it considered our event so
important
that it would hold an precedented meeting with us! This will
be the first time that the Spiritual Caucus has held a meeting away
from U.N. headquarters!

All this gives Humanity's Team and the New Spirituality tremendous
credibility and legitimacy -- something that I believe none of us,
Neale included, could have imagined in Portland, Oregon, two years
ago.

All this also makes the event more than an internal retreat for
Humanity's Teammates. It gives us an external forum to the
world. While this festival is clearly for Humanity's Teammates, it is
also for humanity at large.

Is this a Humanity's Team event? You bet! I believe we will
experience
the same joy, love and fun that have become a hallmark of Humanity's
Team events! (We might experience something we feel is even better!)

And because of who we are and what we're doing, we have attracted the
support and endorsement of a major theological institute, a
host of world-class speakers and even the Spiritual Caucus at the
United Nations! They are celebrating our vision, with us! They are
all
on our marquee, with us! This is our show!

I believe it will be one of our finest hours! I also believe it will
be a blast!!

With love and respect,
Gerry
