When I started
UT I was very ill and had been for several years. I was to the point of
trying anything to get well. Had seen many docs and tried many herbs and
other health practices. Finally ran across UT on an MCS list, where mention
had been made several times of people getting over MCS after starting UT. I
had not made the connection between Candida Overgrowth / Dysbiosis at that
point, but about this same time I also ran across a book Allergies and
Candida by Steven Rochlitz that had good info on energy balancing in folks
with severe dysbiosis -- a very good read and one that I recommend to anyone
with degenerative disease of any type. It also taught me about the Candida
diet and how it plays into your cravings and further degenerative disease.
I started UT full tilt after reading Martha Christy's book, which I actually
found in the local library (gotta love Seattle). That and the reading I did
on the internet gave me the notion that to do this therapy justice I needed
to give it a good trial. I drank everything I produced until 5 PM every day
and did daily urine retention enemas in the morning. Due to drinking this
much urine I also stopped eating alot of the carbs that had been filling my
diet and fueling the Candida and possible insulin resistance. I lost the
extra weight I was carrying fairly quickly, without even trying. I also
started eating more organic food, especially produce and eggs.
When I did the first few urine enemas I could actually smell the yeast that
was being stripped off my colon walls. I did a warm water enemas before the
urine enema so that I could retain the urine as long as possible. Some days
I could retain it for longer than others. I did not strive one way or the
other. Just did what I could and allowed my body to process at its own rate.
I did learn not to leave the house for several hours after doing a retention
enema -- too many surprises <g>. When possible I would put my feet up and
rest for half an hour or so after to facilitate retention.
The first time I drank an eight ounce glass of urine I was pleasantly
surprised by the immediate boost of energy I got. I had been fatigued to the
point of sleeping twelve to eighteen hours a day. I could not physically do
much of anything and was very out of shape. I immediately had five times the
energy I had before -- there was so much room for improvement in my energy
levels. I did not look back. I kept drinking all of my urine all day long
for several months. I also did daily enemas for a two months. Even though I
felt much better in two weeks I wanted to be sure I was not backing off the
regimen too soon. Eventually I did slow down and the Candida symptoms
remained gone. I could eat anything I wanted, old food allergies evaporated,
stomach upsets and diarrhea were gone, terrible headaches gone -- I
generally felt like I had gotten my life back, and wanted to tell everyone
how I did it! Which I did and to this day many are still amazed and trying
to wrap their minds around the fact that Urine cured me where the medical
system had totally failed me (and the two other members of my family that
were similarly affected). I had been to many doctors and taken many drugs
including the new anti-fungal Sporanox for two months. Even the naturopaths
and aryuvedic docs I went to were not able to help me.
I did use a few supplements for a short time to help with the Herxhimer
reaction to the dead Candida cells in my body. I believe it was Manganese
maleate that was suggested for this, I bought Solgar and it did seem to
help. Most of the other Candida supplements I did not use. There are about
twenty that one could take for various aspects of Candida, too many for me.
I also did try to follow the low starch diet but it is very difficult to
avoid all carbs, so was not successful at maintaining a strict Candida diet
for more than a week or so. Still it probably helped for the short time I
did stay on it. It encouraged me to do what I could to avoid sugary and
starchy foods generally. I still try to keep this in mind when I crave
carbs. I do try to eat more frequent small meals, which works well for me. I
also allow myself to eat as much lean natural meat as I want. Vegetarian did
not help me at all and the high grain content was actually a big problem. I
had become allergic to most food by the time I started UT due to leaky gut
syndrome. These allergies reversed when I healed my gut.
Eventually we did move into a house without mold. Trying finding one of
those in Seattle, LOL. Mold fumes are very immune suppressing and most
people can not even detect them or see the mold in their crawl spaces,
basements, behind furniture and walls. It is a very nasty problem of our air
tight houses and houses without adequate ventilation or water issues. The
house without mold saw another leap forward in my health as did the drier
times of year even in the moldy houses. Mold issues seem to be a popular
topic of discussion now a days but seven years ago even the CDC thought I
was nuts when I kept calling them for information. A scientist at the
Stanford School of Public Health told me I had anticipated her next research
project when I called for information and advice. Not what I wanted to hear
at the time! But all in all it has been an interesting path. One that has
led me to an improved level of self care and self awareness.
I did find out about three years later that I also had a cracked root on a
root canal tooth that had been bothering me for many years, but no dentist
every suspected it was the tooth without a nerve that was hurting. They kept
testing the teeth next to it and since the pain was intermittent it did not
stay long enough to track it down. Finally the tooth blew up, or rather the
infection surrounding the cracked root spread far enough that I identified
the problem having read and heard from others about root canals gone bad. I
had that tooth pulled and my immune function made another leap forward. So I
would say there is always something to consider and progress to be made with
health. It is an on going process.
Good luck to your friend. Let me know if I can provide any further
information. One thing I have noticed is that light deprivation can be a
complicating factor and some people are more sensitive than others. At least
fifteen minutes a day on bare eyes, no glasses, no windows, between you and
the sun, best time is 10 - 11 AM.

Subcutaneous urine injections was practiced in 1912 by
Duncan (1) from New York under the name of auto-pyotherapy
for urinary infections, and in 1919 by Wildbolz (1) from
Bern for diagnostic purposes. Cimino (2) from Palermo
reported in 1927 on the use of auto uro-therapy for urinary
infections. Rabinowitch (3) in 1931 described this
auto-urine therapy for gonarthritis. Jausion et al. (4)
used this kind of therapy in 1933 for desensitization and
endocrinological problems. They treated with auto urotherapy
injections patients who suffered from migraine, pruritus,
asthma, urticaria, eczema, psoriasis, etc. Day (5)in 1936
treated patients with acute and subacute glomerulonephritis
