TOPIC: BOOKS FOR THE RELUCTANT READER
LOCATION: Champaign Public Library AUDITORIUM Room A, first floor. Beverages from the library cafe can be taken into the auditorium.
TIME: Tuesday, June 23 6:30 to 8:00 PM
REGISTRATION: Free
CREDITS: CPDU credits for educators
Presenters: Betsy Shea and Julia Burns
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Educators and parents will be introduced to the many books in the Champaign Public Library that can entice the reluctant reader to be an eager reader. The range of books will include Easy Readers, books about nature, graphic novels and books about children who learn to solve problems by taking charge in difficult situations.
Following the talk the group will tour the children’s library and discover the best places to locate books for the reluctant reader.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Betsy Shea is a children’s librarian at the Champaign Public Library with an MLS degree from the University of Illinois and an EDM degree [reading specialist concentration] from the University of Buffalo with certification for Special education and reading.
Julia Burns is a graduate student in library and information science at the University of Illinois and has a degree in psychology. Before entering graduate school, she worked in a children’s bookstore.
