I just received this from the Bloomington group.  I hope those of you with the Discovery Channel find this interesting.  I don't have it.  Please feel free to post this kind of information .

If you have the Discovery Health Channel, this looks like a great program

unlocking autism

Tune in for Unlocking Autism, premiering Monday, April 6 at 8 pm on Discovery Health Channel.

Unlocking Autism explores autism from both a scientific and human perspective. With autism increasing at staggering rates, there has never been a greater interest in the condition — or a more needed time to learn what researchers are uncovering.

We visit some of the leaders in the field who are slowly chipping away at the mystery on many different fronts — from the causes to the therapies. We learn about possible genetic and environmental links, as well as explore the facts behind controversial notions blaming vaccines and allergic reactions for the condition.

Above all, we learn about autism through the lives of those who are personally affected. Throughout the hour we meet people who know the struggles of autism first hand. We meet a remarkable family with six autistic children. We meet a married couple who are both autistic. We meet an individual labeled as autistic savant who can barely care for themself and yet displays certain skills at the level of genius. We meet an individual with autism who has broken the silence by learning to communicate through a computer.

By the hour's end, the viewer will have taken a voyage into the lives of some of autism's most fascinating characters and learned more about the challenges and successes of overcoming the still mysterious disorder known as autism.
