AAPC to Launch Sensory Gang Summer Reading Program to Promote
Literacy and Keep Students Engaged Throughout the Summer
We look forward to it every year. Summer vacation! A break from the
daily grind of the school year.

But just because we take a break from the classroom, doesn't mean
taking a break from learning. It's important for students to continue
to keep their minds active over the summer.

A great way to do this is with a good book and some fun activities to
go with it. AAPC is proud to announce its Sensory Gang Summer Reading
Program for early elementary, elementary, middle and high school
students. We have selected a collection of books that serve a dual
purpose:

for kids on the autism spectrum, they will bolster self-awareness and
confidence while honing current and building new skills and knowledge
for neurotypical peers, they will help open their minds to the world
of autism spectrum disorders and, in the process, foster knowledge
and understanding
The goals of the program are fourfold:

to promote literacy
to keep kids engaged over the summer
to help kids begin to understand and appreciate their differences and
the differences of those around them and
to help kids apply practical knowledge from the selected books in
their homes and classrooms.
