ABOUT THE PROJECT
Managing the Art of Living is a project in partnership with the
Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities. Over the course of
this two-year project, individuals with disabilities, family members
and community partners will have the opportunity to develop
Microboards and Human Service Cooperatives, a person-centered
approach, consumer governed structures that support individualized
funding in several Illinois localities. Community-Building and PATH
training provides the underlying planning, organizing and community
development skills that lie at the center of these emerging service
forms.

A diverse group is ideal for this training. We welcome
· people with disabilities,
· families and extended family members, friends and community allies,
· service coordinators, educators, human service staff and managers,

participation.

About the Workshop
In this three-day hands-on course, we will learn and practice some of
the most valued organizational and person-centered planning tools in
use today. Participants leave inspired and energized, with tools that
they can immediately put into use at work and in their personal
lives. Each participant gets their own personal PATH completedand
helps two other participants complete their PATHs. Practice makes
perfect!
PATH and Solution Circles are powerful graphic facilitation tools
developed by Jack Pearpoint, Marsha Forest and John O'Brien.
Strategies for community-building have been developed by many
colleagues including David and Faye Wetherow (the presenters),
Pearpoint, Forest and O'Brien, John McKnight, Judith Snow, and others.
The Presenters
David and Faye Wetherow have long been involved in innovative service
development, training, management consultation and facilitation in
the field of community living. They created the very first
Microboards, inclusive housing and service cooperatives, and some of
Canada 's earliest individualized residential and personal support
services.
They have conducted PATH and Community-Building workshops since 1994,
facilitated nearly two hundred individual and organizational PATHs,
and supported the Tennessee Microboard project with design
consultation and PATH training.

What is the message to get in front of everyone? Am I missing
something? Is there supposed to be an attachment? I don't
understand. Is there a meeting, a program, an organization, what?
