I had attended the Asperger's support group in Monticello on Tuesday
and I found it to be a very positive experience and I plan to attend
regularly.
I spend so much of my time talking to others about the ways to deal
with the challenges that Erik's Asperger's present that it was
really uplifting to hear the discussion about the many strengths and
gifts that these kids have. After the speaker, Joan Clark, gave her
presentation that included numerous charming and hilarious stories,
the parents and teachers all had great stories to tell about their
own kids. It was just plain fun. I showed up because I needed
information to deal with a particular problem that was wearing on
Erik, his family, and teachersI left with a smile on my face and
feeling very uplifted.
